WASHINGTON — The nation’s top general declined on Sunday to endorse either of the sudden announcements on Afghan troop withdrawals that came out of the White House last week.

In an interview with NPR, Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that the agreement reached with Afghan and Taliban officials to leave Afghanistan was “conditions based,” adding that the United States would “responsibly” end the war.

Don’t know anything about this general, but if he’s doing NPR interviews, he’s likely a never-Trump swamp creature.

“Responsibly” except to our men and to the US Taxpayer. He couldn’t give a flying fornication about their best interests.

Bring our brave patriots home. Continue to negotiate peace with Israel and her neighbors in the Mid East.

Generals don't decide policy for any country apart from military dictatorships. Nobody elected this fool to anything. A court martial for insubordination may be in order.

A tweet is not an actual order to the Pentagon. Trump may tweet how he wants troops home by Christmas. That may very well be his desire, but until he actually issues an order through the appropriate channels, it’s not a command to the military forces. Of course, no matter what the president or any official says, the NYT will always frame it in the worst possible way.

Trump better get this bastard figured out fast as to whose side he’s on because Trump is going to need the military before the coming upheaval is contained. Geez, Miley is chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff after all and he’s talking as if he is running the show.

This chump again. Public insubordination by one of Obongo’s Nancy boys. If Trump wins there will need buses to hold all the Deep State a-holes need to be fired and sent packing

Y’all ought to read the article. The General didn’t say this. It’s a typical Slimes hit piece in which they put words in the General’s mouth that he didn’t actually say.

Miley should publicly be on the same page as The President. His personal opinion is his personal opinion. Miley is a disgrace! I hope he gets punished and demoted.

Trump: “We should have the small remaining number of our BRAVE Men and Women serving in Afghanistan home by Christmas!”

SHOULD, not must. And I agree. We should have them all home in time for Christmas, but that doesn’t mean we will. A tweet is not an order.

Robert O’Brien, according to the NYT, said the other day that he expected a big reduction of U.S. troops in Afghanistan by early next year.

A big reduction by early next year. Again, not an order to the troops.

Gen Mark Milley’s comment: “We have a plan, a series of responsible drawdown options that has been briefed to the president. I’m not going to go into specific numbers for the future. I think that would be appropriate for me as the chairman to talk specific numbers in future operations, we typically don’t do that. But we have a responsible plan to end the war with U.S. interests clearly in mind.”

The general’s statement is totally compatible with the president’s tweet. There is no agreement to have the troops out by a specific date before or early after Christmas. So what you have here is the NYT claiming Trump set a hard date of out by Christmas, and then claiming Gen. Milley walked that back in attempt to show conflict and division between the president and the military. It’s FAKE NEWS!!!
