The people of PA are utterly stupid if they go for Biden’s bait.
As a life-long, native Pennsylvanian I can assure you that the Pennsylvania electorate is THAT dumb. We keep politicians — especially the Democrat-variety — in office long past their sell-by dates.
Bobby Casey, Jr is a classic 2nd generation political moron. I had no love for his father, but at least I could respect the fact that he continued to run for governor until he finally got it. And he stuck to his pro-life, catholic faith when the Clintons’ tried to muscle him.
Arlen Specter had a pocket of suburban Philadelphia voters that he gamed into several re-elections while pretty much discounting the rest of the state. He hung around at least 2 terms too long.
Tom Ridge and Tom Corbett were both flat-out stupid. Ridge managed to get re-elected despite failing on almost all his political pledges — chief among them was getting a handle on education spending. He got rolled by the state teacher’s union. Something, BTW, that Chris Christie over in NJ learned from. If you’re going to pick a fight with the teacher’s it’ll be scorched earth and there’s no second-place prize.
Tom Corbett got rolled because he couldn’t foresee how he was getting boxed in by 2 issues: 1) his failed proposal to get tolls on I-80 and 2) how that affected his ability to balance the state budget. The result: enraged voters threw him out because he went for a huge gas tax increase that solved problem #2. Classic “cutting off your nose” behavior by PA voters.
