For the first time in two decades Sunday, Tom Wibberley set foot on the vessel where his son, Seaman Craig Bryan Wibberley, lost his life.
Tom Wibberley said the last time he stepped on the USS Cole was the day before it left port, and while he has had an opportunity to tour it again since, Sunday was the first time he did.
He and his wife joined other Gold Star families over the weekend who were able to tour the USS Cole ahead of the Navy's Monday remembrance on the 20th anniversary of an attack that took the lives of 17 sailors, including two with Washington County ties.

For some reason I don't remember the plane crashing on the White House lawn, but according to Wikipedia:
"Frank Eugene Corder (May 26, 1956 – September 12, 1994) was an American truck driver. He stole a Cessna 150 late on September 11, 1994 and crashed the stolen aircraft onto the South Lawn of the White House early on September 12, 1994, attempting to land the plane on the south lawn of the White House; he was killed, and was the sole casualty."
Note the September 11th reference. Weird.
They never should have been in Yemen.
CENTCOM signed a refueling contract with a private company in Yemen, then provided that company with details on USS COLE’s arrival. Really intelligent move.
The US Navy did nothing to assist the next CVBG deploying to that area. My ship requested two specific items, and all we got was a phone call telling us to get back in our box, and a threat about our ‘unauthorized’ discussion with the Battle Group staff.
We purchased our own sniper rifle with private funds and took it with us. Now it’s in my safe.

Attacks during election seasons, or in first year of POTUS’ term. We are potentially in a danger zone, no matter who is elected in 22 days.
My small city in central New York State has been very quiet since all of this crap started. I don't expect any problems on Election Day, or afterwards, unless they bus assholes in from outside the State, which hasn't been done yet. There's really nothing much here to begin with. No malls, no downtown businesses, nothing.
