The restrictions whether by state or country have little to do with the spread of the virus. The big factor is the susceptibility of the population. Many people for what ever reason seem to be less susceptible to the disease. The press is just playing this lock down game as a political cudgel to attack the people they hate and promote the people they like.
Comorbidities have a lot to do with it. Consider the mind-numbingly small number of recorded deaths in all of the armed forces? Those are the exceptionally healthy and fit out of the population. They aren’t the average.
