Protesters marched to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos' palatial Beverly Hills mansion to demand the company address environmental and labor issues that came to a head during the pandemic.
Saturday saw a coalition of labor and environmental activists gathered at Will Rogers Memorial Park on Sunset Boulevard to decry Bezos and his multi-billion dollar e-commerce empire during 'The Wrong Amazon is Burning' event.
The Congress and Essential Workers, a group of current and former Amazon warehouse employees, organized the rally and it was spearheaded by Chris Smalls of Staten Island, New York.

California Enacts Workers Compensation Presumption That Applies To Most Employers With COVID-19 Outbreaks
California Governor Gavin Newsom just signed legislation that establishes a workers compensation presumption that will apply to most employers in the state that have a COVID-19 outbreak through 2022 meaning it is much more likely that worker infections will be covered under workers comp coverage. This legislation, Senate Bill 1159, will shift the burden of proof to presume that covered workers who contracted COVID-19 did so at work, unless the employer can prove otherwise. The new legislation also enacts a rebuttable presumption that applies to first responders and certain health care workers. Finally, the law requires employers to provide notice to their workers compensation carrier of employees who test positive for COVID-19. SB 1159 was enacted as an urgency measure and therefore went into effect immediately. What do California employers need to know about this new law?
It appears that the leftists can’t control the monster they unleashed on the rest of us.
That works for me.
They need to taste and experience whet they are inflicting on others and they need to know that they are not immune to the consequences of their actions.
No doubt they thought they were in control and could ride out the chaos and anarchy. What a surprise for them to find out they can’t.
Im no friend of Bezos communistic politics but demanding that other people pay more taxes is just as bad. It appears that the enemies of American values are already attacking each other.
Did they wreck the place as usual?
“We want free stuff or we’re going to hurt you!”
He could give each of those 20 thousand employees $1000.00 and he probably has that in his pocket.
...so the Democrats pass tax laws that protect those making over $250,000 or more — like millions - so, the corrupt politicians like Pelosi can keep their ill gotten wealth — then some capitalist business man reaps billions from the current tax laws - and all of a sudden — “it’s pay out more to those of us who have done nothing with our lives” protest ...
how about studying for a career that will give you a solid salary and opportunity to advance... & STOP wasting time protesting ...
French Revolution! LOL
Liberals don't much pay attention to history, do they?
Heres how we destroy Orange Mans economy! Every employer now has an incentive to enforce work from home rules, which will devastate commercial real estate.
Restaurants have another reason to stay closed.
Are taxpayers on the hook for teachers who get ill? Will we now regulate employee behavior, overtly or covertly?
I dont know about the rest of you, but I think this is gonna be great!
Welcome to Free Republic (btw the graphics on your profile page are excellent).
Even Amazon didnt have perfect control of their employees getting COVID. At best, they test their employees and tell them to stay home right?
Exactly, businesses stay basically closed.
Essentials get hammered with WC claims and skyrocketing rates. We don’t pay when flu or a cold virus runs rampant in the workplace...now we’ll pay for a highly contagious one?
If everyone at the Rose Garden was tested negative...and they were...but President Trump and team still got Covid...
What is an employer to do? Oh...wait...can’t work until you vaccinate...it is coming. It is the only way an employer can avoid what will be the high cost of doing business otherwise.
California employees need to know that THIS law will drive companies OUT OF CALIFORNIA.
NO ONE knows exactly where they contracted Covid. NO ONE.
“Tracing” is a game....not reliable.
Putting the blame on companies is just plain stupid.
Companies need to make their moving plans NOW.
Is this after they protested at the Chinese embassy for developing the Wuhan COVID virus?
I agree. I don’t like Bezo’s for sponsoring every left wing radical individual, organization, leftist politican, newspaper etc; etc; that he can write a check to.
That said, some punk demonstrators demanding $30.00 for non skilled workers are equally as greedy as Bezos. Yes, it’s a fractional scale ($30.00 per hour vs 165 billion) but “the HUMAN GREED” scale is the same.

Geffen had owned the home since 1990, when he paid $47.5 million for it in an all-cash deal, the Los Angeles Times previously reported. So Geffen almost quadrupled his investment in 30 years.
Bezos paid too much. I like the lot, but the house isn't all that impressive to me.
