I dunno. History says the 6th year of a presidency(assuming trump wins) is tough for an incumbent. Toomy chickening out? Would it call for another squish? They’ll counter with pretty boy Conor Lamb.
I think it is a tough year because WH policy has to shift as the election begins the next year. In this case Pence would have to take a more visible roll and separate himself from Trump in areas that may hurt him as a candidate. Same in Congress, they have to separate themselves from contentious issues preparing for reelection and that may go against the policies the President is pushing. Makes for a tough year, which is why most Presidents spend the last two years doing a farewell tour. Trump is a horse of a different color, so I suspect he will fight and make deals until the day he leaves for Florida permanently.
