During President Trump’s administration, the number of concealed handgun permits has soared to over 19.48 million – a 34% increase over 2016. However, while gun sales have set records in 2020, the growth in concealed handgun permits has slowed as many states shutdown their issuance of new permits. Unlike gun ownership surveys that may be affected by people’s unwillingness to answer personal questions, concealed handgun permit data is the only really “hard data” that we have. Seventeen states no longer provide data on all the people who are legally carrying a concealed handgun because people in those states no longer need a permit to carry.

Basically, one in about seventeen people have the cow permit. This number does not include places that do not require a permit
As an aside, there is an indoor pistol shooting range near me. It’s open to the public. Awhile back I wandered into the place, just to see what was going on. Every person on the firing line was a woman. Every last one of them.
And they did so by a 9-0 vote.
That shows ya how much contempt the state's officials have for 2A.
In Arkansas, an Open Carry State, one must still have a permit to carry concealed.

MS where I live is a Constitutional Carry State allowing both Concealed and Open Carry.
I still applied for and received a CCW so I can Carry in the other 30 or so Reciprocal States.
I wouldn’t use the sum population of the United States, aged 0 and above as the demoninator. I’d use households. Yeah, you might find a few cases with two permit holders in a family, but rarely.
IMO the Unites States Congress is the only legislative entity that is allowed to regulate firearms in *any* way.And,of course,any legislation they pass is subject to scrutiny by Federal courts...sidestepping the thousands of petty little dictators in the states’ courts.
