The US almost touched off another Indian war in the late 1870s when the government decided to enforce the 13th Amendment to the Indian tribes of the West. Most of the slaves freed then were Hispanics and other tribes captured in tribal wars.
In 1829, Mexico abolished slavery. Yet for fifty years after slave raiders still raided the US for Indians to be sold in Mexico as slaves.
