When Soviet scientists developed a new group of nerve agents in the 1970s and ’80s, they called it Novichok, or “newcomer.” The lethal cocktail acts as a cholinesterase inhibitor, blocking an enzyme the nervous system needs to function. The poison disrupts communication between nerves and muscles.
The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons added Novichock to a list of banned chemical toxins in 2019 after Britain accused Russian agents of using it to poison a former Russian operative and his daughter a year earlier. The Kremlin denied the allegations.
Berlin’s Charité hospital said in late August that another Russian dissident, prominent opposition figure Alexei Navalny, was poisoned on Aug. 20. Days later, a German government spokesman said Navalny had been dosed with a Novichok-like nerve agent, citing “unequivocal” evidence. Labs in France and Sweden confirmed the findings.
Navalny went on to spend more than two weeks in a medically induced coma in Germany, where he was flown several days after the poisoning. He is now recovering and has vowed to return to Russia.
On Thursday, his team said traces of nerve agent had been found on a water bottle recovered from his Siberian hotel room.
The Kremlin has again denied it was involved. But many analysts say a clear pattern of attacks against opponents of Russian President Vladimir Putin suggests otherwise.

Navalny has less support than Evan Mc Mullin did here. There is no reason for Putin to poison him.
Pics of Navalny in the hospital with no staff wearing protective gear, and his supposedly turned gray overnight hair looking freshly dyed brown makes me think it is BS.

I like how the greens in Germany are whining about NS2 and cherleading for shale gas instead. It is not that I am against shale gas but comeon. They are greens and the environmental effect of shale is like 100 worse.

NOVICHOK is an outgrowth of Russian research on nerve poisons first developed by IG Farben for use as insecticides. ZYKLON-B, used by the Germans for gasssing prisoners in extermination camps, was another product developed first developed by IG Farben as an insecticide.
While doing some investigations into a hotel chain in the ‘70s I came across a 55 gallon drum of insecticide used for control of insects in guests rooms. Manufacture, IG Farben. You may be interested in other IG Farben companies: Monsanto, ICI, IGUSA, the list is quite extensive. Technically, IG Farben no longer exists as a company, technically. It is like Ford. Ford made tens of thousands of vehicles for the German Army during WWII through it’s subsidiaries.

Sockmonkey, I simply don’t believe these stories. The British “nerve gas” poisonings were supposedly effected by smearing the stuff on a doorknob. Over eight hours after the intended victims had left, never to return. When the press raised doubts about the story, a perfume bottle full of nerve gas suddenly appeared in a public park. Cui bono? Why would Russian agents do that? The had nothing to gain. But the British government had a lot to gain, by diverting attention from an implausible story to a classic “sob story”.
And now poor Navalny. Poisoned by a cup of tea. Verified by Germany, or rather by the German Ministry of Defence. Until somebody remembered that this nerve gas is an organophosphorus compound, and so vulnerable to heat. So the story changed to a water bottle, with nerve gas smeared on the outside. Which was miraculously transported thousands of miles in a bag, with no ill effects on anyone.
My take is that these are all false flag operations by the neocon warmongers, just like the nonexistent Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, and the faked Syrian gas attacks.
