Saudi Arabia calls for ‘coexistence’ in the Middle East following Abraham Accords
Washington Examiner ^ | September 23, 2020 | Joel Gehrke

King Salman of Saudi Arabia called for “coexistence among all the region’s peoples” and endorsed President Trump’s Middle East diplomacy just days after the signing of historic agreements between Israel and two other Gulf Arab states.

“Peace in the Middle East is our strategic option,” the oil-rich monarch told the United Nations General Assembly. ”And we will spare no effort to work together towards achieving a bright future where peace, stability, prosperity, and coexistence among all the region’s peoples prevail.”

His recorded comments seemed to indicate that Saudi Arabia approves of the recent normalization of ties between Israel and two of the monarchy’s closest allies, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Yet, he avoided any explicit reference to the newly signed Abraham Accords...

“We support the efforts of the current U.S. administration to bring about peace in the Middle East by bringing both the Palestinians and the Israelis together at the negotiating table to reach a fair and comprehensive agreement,” the Saudi royal said.

Sounds like the Saudis are moving their public toward a deal with Israel (signaling the new Party Line).

This is from the King's own lips.

FakeNewsMSM are ignoring this completely:

23 Sept: Reuters: Six states and the Palestinians establish EastMed gas forum
by Ahmed Ismail in Cairo and Ari Rabinovitch in Jerusalem; Writing by Aidan Lewis; Editing by Gareth Jones and Andrew Cawthorne
Six states signed a charter for an Egypt-based energy forum on Tuesday, giving formal status to a group that seeks to promote natural gas exports from the Eastern Mediterranean and that Israel hopes will strengthen ties with Arab neighbors.
Egypt, Israel, Greece, Cyprus, Italy and Jordan established the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) as an intergovernmental organization in a virtual ceremony hosted by Cairo.

The group unites regional rivals of Turkey, which has been locked in a bitter dispute with European Union members Greece and Cyprus over gas drilling rights in the region.

The Palestinian Authority is also part of the forum, Israeli Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz said in a statement.
France has applied to join, with the United States and European Union requesting observer status.

For Israel, the forum “brings regional cooperation with Arab and European countries, the first of its kind in history, with contracts to export (Israeli) gas to Jordan and Egypt worth $30 billion, and that is just the beginning,” added Steinitz.
Egypt began importing Israeli gas at the start of this year, for possible re-export to Europe or Asia...

some pro-Iran/Hamas/Hezbollah/Muslim Brotherhood media are trying to suggest Palestinians didn’t sign, but note the past tense quote “***said Palestine signed the charter separately at a later time):

23 Sept: ***Middle East Monitor: Palestine skips East Mediterranean Gas Forum signing ceremony
Palestine yesterday skipped a virtual ceremony held to sign the charter of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) hosted by Egypt, the WAFA news agency reported...
The source, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, ***said Palestine signed the charter separately at a later time.
“Palestine has not attended the signing ceremony, but as co-founding state, it will not retreat from its membership in any international organisation that asserts the Palestinian people’s national and sovereign rights, most notably the right to develop its national assets and natural resources, such as the offshore Gaza gas field, whose development has been hindered by the Israeli occupation authorities for long years,” he said...

Wikipedia: ***Middle East Monitor: According to Andrew Gilligan, the Middle East Monitor promotes a strongly pro-Muslim Brotherhood and pro-Hamas viewpoint.
(Leftist) Haaretz reporter Anshel Pfeffer described MEMO as a “conspiracy theory-peddling anti-Israel organisation”...
According to Yiftah Curiel, an employee of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, some of the staff of the Middle East Monitor as well as the similar Middle East Eye are also active in Interpal, which has been designated as a terror-supporting ground in Israel, as well as being on the United States Treasury’s list of specially-designated terrorist organisations...
It has been characterized as a pro-Hamas publication by John Ware of BBC News.

The key here is Arab Sunni Muslim world. The Arabs consider themselves to be the best Sunni Muslims and the rest of the Sunni Muslim world resents them for it. So Erdogan of Turkey, a Sunni Muslim, will continue his pursuit of the revival of the Ottoman Caliphate. The Arab Sunni Muslims on the Arabian peninsula are pursuing the old Muslim tactic of taqiyah, i.e., they will ally with their lesser kafir enemy, Israel (the Little Satan), temporarily to fend off/ defeat their more imminent threat, Persian Shia Iran. If that is achieved then they will return back to denouncing the Little Satan. The Qu'ran cannot be changed.

Salman seems to be following the lead of his son, Mohammed - who has quietly and not so quietly been getting rid of the old hardliner Wahhabists and terror supporters, to the point of arresting, imprisoning and most importantly *executing* members of the Saudi royal family. Interesting times over there.

A lot of this is probably driven by the younger, Western-educated and more Western-aligned set of the Saudi royals, who are reportedly increasingly vocal about conditions in their country.

I’m not so sure. While I don’t believe this is a prelude to unicorns, skittles and flying pigs with heavenly choirs proclaiming eternal peace, I do think this is more than just taqqiya. There’s a lot of the younger set over there that not only were educated in the West, but due to the Internet have Western friends and increasingly a more Western mindset, with all that that entails. Note that this king was convinced by the younger set to let women drive in 2017 and is (for Saudi Arabia) Westernizing at a breakneck pace, with his son starting to literally kill the old fundamentalist arsehats.

Strategically, they also need to diversify their economy far beyond oil, and provide job opportunities for that big demographic wave of young adults.

The proposed new high technology and resort city of Neom, that the Crown Prince wants to develop as the flagship of this effort, is just a few miles across the water from the Egyptian resort of Sharm El Sheik, and just a 2 1/2 hour drive down the coast from the Israeli resort of Eilat. Major Saudi planning and investment is focused on developing that city, and its surrounding Province of Tabuk - the closest to Israel (under an hour’s drive from Eilat).

Also, Israel can rapidly provide a route for pipeline exports to Europe for the Saudis (much cheaper than tankers through the Sues Canal), that avoids the threat of Iran shutting the Straits of Hormuz, by refurbishing the existing Trans Arabian Pipeline (Tapline), and building a spur from the Golan Heights down to the Port of Haifa (or some new terminal facility).

Israel could also potentially provide a nuclear umbrella deterrent to the Iranians on day one - in time to defend them, should a pro-Iran Biden Admin take power, and throw the Saudis to the wolves, like Obama/Biden did to Iraq.

You posted a hopeful persuasion with which some conservatives agree.

1. Pat Robertson thinks the internet is the West's best hope for defanging Islam.
2. Michael Youssef's Christian ministry to Muslims in the Middle East over KINGDOM SAT.

My observations ...

1. Iran's Mullahs' have kept their young people suppressed. Red China is Iran's newest ally. Shia Islam isn't going away.
2. Islam has been practicing jihad against its enemies for 1396 continuous years. That culture is not going away.
3. KSA is still funding jihad in North Africa, Europe, and North America.
4. Do you see the Muslims in Europe, the U.S. Congress, or CAIR softening?
5. The only radical Islam is the small minority that does not practice jihad by $/ word/ sword. Islam cannot be reformed to be more peaceful.
6. Pope Francis' attempts from last year and now to foster brotherhood among the Abrahamic faiths is doomed to failure. The Qu'ran considers "the people of the book", ie., Jews and Christians, to be kafir/ infidels.
7. 7/26/2020 - UAE ruler demands ‘the return of the Mosque of Córdoba’ after Hagia Sophia conversion

Your observations 1, 4, 6 and 7 don’t really apply to the Saudis.

2. Actually, that culture does appear to be slowly wasting away in KSA and a few other area states. The under-30 set seem to be moving more and more to a “Islamic In Name Only” much like most Americans are Christians In Name Only - going to church a few times a year at most, only generally observing some of the requirements, etc.

3. Yes, they still have Saudi royal family members that are doing so, but again the current Crown Prince is starting to imprison or even kill them in large numbers. Saudi financial support for terror is dropping precipitously.

5. No, but it can become Islam In Name Only. The numbers of under-30 Saudi that drink, eat pork and do all sorts of other Islamic mortal sins is getting to be ridiculous.

16 Your observations 1, 4, 6 and 7 don’t really apply to the Saudis.

We will have to agree to disagree.

1. If the Persian Shia threat is still real, the Arab Sunni posture will remain in place. Arab = KSA, Jordan, UAE, Bahrain, and Yemen. Not sure about Oman.

4. The Muslim ummah in Europe and the U.S. are receiving funding, i.e. jihad $ from KSA.

6. Of course Sunni Islam (in particular KSA and UAE) is practicing taqiyah on Pope Francis.

7. The UAE are Arab Sunni Muslims. They will ally with KSA against the Persian Shia threat.

I continue to pray that more and more Muslims in the ME abandon Islam and in the process find Christianity.

3. Yes, they still have Saudi royal family members that are doing so, but again the current Crown Prince is starting to imprison or even kill them in large numbers. Saudi financial support for terror is dropping precipitously.

I have read the articles regarding MBS and his efforts to purge the faithful Muslim royal family members. I remain skeptical.

Not buying it that KSA is defunding worldwide jihad.

5. No, but it can become Islam In Name Only. The numbers of under-30 Saudi that drink, eat pork and do all sorts of other Islamic mortal sins is getting to be ridiculous.

I have heard these stories for 20 years and no doubt it is going on. But in the ummah, when push comes to shove, the faithful Muslims have prevailed.

We will know just how Real this Israeli-Arab peace movement is (and I Hope & Pray it is), when Arab school text books...and the Tone of the Friday sermon, Change.
It is one thing for the leadership of these nations to make these moves and say these things its another to see this filter down to The Street.

Given this was broadcast for 90 minutes on Al Arabiya. The WORD has been given, and The Palestinian Leadership had best pay heed. That was Then...This Is Now.
