A Personal Letter To Stressed Out Preppers Who Are TIRED Of This Apocalypse
The Organic Prepper ^ | 9-23-2020 | Daisy Luther

Dear Friends:

2020 has certainly been quite a year so far, and a defining one for the preparedness movement. No longer are our stockpiles of rice, beans, and hand sanitizer objects that make us strange. Our stashes of TP would make us the envy of the neighborhood if, of course, anybody knew we had it.

So many of the things and beliefs that made us figures of mockery in the past are now proving their value. We’re learning, with a mixture of relief and perhaps dismay, that we weren’t so crazy after all.

When the first lockdown began, we weren’t out there emptying the shelves in the frenzied throng (even though we’re the ones who got blamed for it.) We were watchful but for the most part, comfortable with our preparations. We understood before things went sideways that extended events can result in civil unrest, crime sprees, and chaos. We realized that we could be facing shortages.

And then time went on.

And on.

And on.

This has been a year in which so many things have occurred that proved preppers have things right that it’s positively exhausting. We’ve had a pandemic, civil unrest, food shortages, increases in crime, exorbitant unemployment, and we’re facing an economic collapse, or at the very least, an economic crisis.

And we’re tired.

Maybe everyone doesn’t feel this way. Maybe you’re perfectly fine and you live on your back 40 and have been completely untouched by any of the above-mentioned crises. Maybe your finances are just fine, you never got out much anyway, and you’ve still got 8 years’ worth of food socked away to supplement the things you grow. Maybe you’re reading this as you spin goat hair into yarn from which you’ll make this year’s mittens.

Maybe everyone doesn’t feel this way.

No, I feel this way. My wife and I got the Covid to start off the year. MIL broke her hip in January. FIL goes into in-house hospice in June. Dies in August. Half of the family lost their jobs. (Try getting a job at 58 and see how many people are interested). Constant media bombardment bashing Trump or inciting looting and burning of America. The list goes on and on.

Same one that brought down the Eastern bloc countries and by the same people. It’s usually unstoppable if it has allowed to advance so far.

That’s from a KGB defector, who talked about how the Soviet Union brings down countries.

It took a generation to bring it this far and we are stuck with these liberal mindsets. Even if we could start re-teaching American values, it would take a supreme effort for another generation to repair what was done.

The dedicated principled faithful and mentally healthy of us should prevail

Stay the course. Enjoy life.

It was fun while selling our house to watch and listen to reactions to our storage room. At first mockery, then the inevitable “I know where I’m coming if...” Then the realization how bad a notion that is.

That’s the problem with this apocalypse. It’s been drawn out. It’s not a cataclysmic event (like I thought it would be). In many ways that is worse. Because then you are dealing with normalcy bias. And that is dangerous.

The initial lock-down was shocking because we have never done that before. But it has dragged on for so long (thanks, Dimocrats), making the populace begin to think that what we are experiencing is “the new normal” and that everything is fine. While it isn’t.

It feels to me like we are living in the Stranger Things “Upside Down”, where the end of the episode is coming up and the next shoe will drop. I want it to stop.

I’m one to do just that. No amount of bad news and propaganda would cause me to stop believing in America or its ideals.

Why would preppers be stressed out. Isn’t this what they planned for and expected?

I didn’t read it all. Got bored. Too much complaining and being surprised at having to adapt.

Interesting article and comments at the end.

Some people commented that they feel uneasy, as if something is looming on the horizon.

Others are commenting on the upcoming elections and what’s going to happen with that, and they ALL feel the need to be prepped for whatever is coming.

So they are continuing to do so.

Thanks for the ping.

Yes, this isn’t what she expected, but isn’t that what prepping is all about? Being ready for WHATEVER happens?

This whole situation is wearing thin, but prepping for the long haul does mean things will be unsettled for a long time.

It sounds like she was more prepared physically than mentally.

You need to prep for both.

After you prep, then its all about becoming “self sufficient” within reason...omit spinning goat hair into yarn, but grow, can, reload, hunt, and generate power.

Normalcy bias is kicking in, and the population are allowing it to happen.
The one thing I notice more and more of in the roads these days is straight up anger and road rage. Folks literally are becoming unhinged.
Nobody gives a rip anymore about others. Common courtesy is out the window.

Does this all sound familiar?

Then there is the spiritual side of all of this.
Only Christians understand that part and even then it’s only a select few.

The impending doom is pretty clear to those who are awake.
