My high school senior is missing his senior year. His district plans 100% remote until Jan, and then only 2 days of in person teaching after that. The rest will be “independent learning” and no teaching. So he will have to learn Stats and Pre Algebra with 2 days of teaching, come Jan.

And this is even after Newsom will allow full reopening in our county 3 weeks from now (after we’ve reached the “red” level that’s expected by next week, and stay there 2 weeks). The teachers are refusing to come back full time.

At least my daughter’s private HS plans to return to full time in person the minute the county and state allow it—I’m thinking Oct 19th.

My oldest missed the last half of her senior year, and is now living on her college campus with absolutely draconian restrictions. My other daughters (HS senior and junior) are 100% online but “supposed” to start at least partial in-person classes by late Oct. This whole scam absolutely ENRAGES me.

My grandsons (7th and 8th grade) are finally back in school after starting the year with 4 weeks of "virtual learning" at home. Quite surprised to hear that although they're in the school building, all the students still spend the day staring at their laptops, enduring more "virtual learning".

There are teachers in the building, but apparently the main interaction with the students is to remind them of the restrictions.
