On my several visits to Quebec I’ve encountered some nice people but have also encountered more than a few rather impolite folks...the hostility usually occurring after I tried to speak English (my school days French now consists of “Je cherche la bibliotec”).
It’s not a biggie but I recall getting the finger from locals while driving along minding my own business. I think they give yanks a pass but my Ontario plates were like a red flag to them.
My most recent visit to Quebec was over three decades ago, but I remember that a simple “bonjour” or “merci” softened all but the hardest of Francophiles and resulted in doors being held open rather than shut in your face.
Gotta meet people halfway even if you murder their language.
