Yes, they never thought through all of the impacts of rushing to solar and wind power.
I was talking to someone who wants to see major switches to electric cars. He said how electric cars are pollution free and how green we would be, if only we had millions of electric cars on the road.
I silenced him, by saying that, our power grid could not accomodate literally millions of electric cars being plugged in to recharge every night. I also pointed out that significant amounts of electricity needed to recharge electric cars would be generated in fossil fuel power plants.
He said, well, we would have to work through a transition period, then started talking about something else.
Not true. Electricity is an endless resource. It comes from the wall.
Tell him that only nuclear power can support electric cars without a significant increase in pollution!
I was part of a group that fought and won against a big Industrial Wind Turbine Complex near me. The first in our state to be successful
They lies that we exposed were numerous
We finally won by convincing the Board of Zoning Appeals to force them into providing a Property Value Guarantee
They claimed adjacent property owners would suffer NO loss in property value, but damsure wouldn’t back it up in writing
My liberal acquaintance used to rave about us stepdaughter’s Pruis. The other day a light came on. She figured she would look it up when she got home. The car died long before. Turns out the battery died. You can’t run on the engine alone. A replacement is $7500, except there are none available. It is more than the car is worth. Two estimates on trade-in value were $100 and $150. I said i was sorry. (It sounded TOTALLY genuine.)
Manufacturing those batteries is extremely polluting, and there is not enough Lithium in the world.
Electric cars are dirty and unafforfable
Typical liberal thinking. They do not think things through to the inevitable ending.
There is a reason why most liberals are not part of the STEM portion of the education system. They gravitate to ‘studies’, social sciences, etc. Such subjects never think through the consequences whereas STEM subjects have a correct answer, not an opinion answer.
It would be great to find a way to use the enormous amount of power the sun dumps on the earth each day. I don’t think solar panels are any more than the starting point. Some of the mirror and stirling engine technology looks interesting.
