California keeps going out of its way to drive residents to Texas or somewhere else.
We learned that California has set up a panel to study reparations. This is the story:
The panel would study the effects slavery had on California and recommend to the legislature no later than 2023 what type of compensation would be appropriate, how it might be dispersed and who could be eligible to receive it.
The task force could also recommend other forms of redress besides money.
According to a state lawmaker, slavery is responsible for higher rates of incarceration, homelessness, and unemployment for African-Americans. No one asked the lawmaker about March 2020, when the African-American unemployment rate was the lowest ever. I guess that happened on another planet.
The lawmakers took this vote on the 57th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech. My guess is that Dr. King would have a few things to say about incarceration and so many young African-American men growing up without fathers.
"Reparations" faces a big test, and it will be Hispanics. It's possible that many Hispanic legislators supported the creation of the panel, but it won't be so easy when they explain it to their constituents.
In other words, I have not met a single Hispanic who supports the idea. Maybe I'm hanging around with too many Cubans and Venezuelans, but I don't remember any Mexicans crazy about the idea. I do recall a fellow from Guatemala saying this: "Why do I have to pay taxes for something that happened centuries ago?"

But its OK to explain it to white people who also had nothing to do with it?
Hispanics will be mowing the lawns and detailing the cars of the reparations noveau riche until theyve wrested every cent from them.
Hispanics have Spanish ancestors and are therefore former slaveholders.
Time to pay the piper!
(or stop voting for the Democratic Party....)
According to 2018 US Census Bureau estimates, California’s population was
59.5% White (36.6% Non-Hispanic White),
14.7% Asian,
13.8% Some Other Race,
5.8% Black or African American,
0.8% Native American and Alaskan Native,
0.4% Pacific Islander and
5.1% from two or more races.
There are ZERO Chinese who were used as slaves to build the California railroads. /s
Given hispanics are notoriously racist and guilty in slavery...
Madness, Ca was a free state as in no slavery ever.
RE: There are ZERO Chinese who were used as slaves to build the California railroads. /s
Weren’t they PAID? And they ( The Coolies ) weren’t OWNED by anyone in the same ways blacks were owned. They could quit working anytime they wish.
RE: 5.8% Black or African American,
So, 94% of Californians have to pay reparations to 6%of the population? What about the MIXED race Californians? Do they get paid half of the reparations? What if you’re 1/4 black? Are you only entitled to 1/4 the reparation money?
WTH?! California was never a slave state to begin with. This is nothing more than shameless Democrat pandering.
Sally Benton Freemont, wife of JohnC Freemont, first Republican presidential candidate that ran from California, was the force behind her husband running on the idea of emancipation for the blacks.
Lincoln would run the next election on the same principle.
The Mexicans were already anti slavery since they threw the Spaniards out in 1821.
No one owes anyone anything except maybe thank you s IMHO
RE RE: 5.8% Black or African American,
What about Africans whose ancestors were never slaves who came to California recently? Are they entitled too?
My first reaction, as well.
what about the Native Americans, they were here before the Hispanics?
Should all of South America and North America (includes Canada since they like to play that card) pay retributions to Native Americans?
Should the European governments (including Spain) pay retributions to India, China, Africa, Australia, and America natives for building settlements?
If the CalComs (California Commies) were smart, theyd include Hispanics in their reparations scheme. In fact, just include everyone whos not of white European descent.
Its a social justice thing, dontcha know?
They will have to bring back the old ‘One Drop’ laws..........
Who is going to explain transportation costs and living expenses to reparation recipients? Who’s going to explain an invoice for ancestors participating in the freeing of the oppressed in the south by families of said Union soldiers?
Jobs or mobs. Your choice 11/3/2020.
Please note that just 35 years ago, California was 72% “non hispanic white” (wasnt even reported that way then), and the 1986 amnesty for illegals had not yet been passed.
No place in the US - even the world - went through a transformation like this state in that short amount of time, unless by Invasion.
Which is, in fact, what happened.
YES! A point I’ve been trying to make here on FR for years.
Democrats screwed themselves by promising both Blacks and Hispanics that they were the #1 most favored minority in this country. That is unsustainable. Sooner or later you have to choose.
The rise of BLM forced them to choose. With the predictable result that the runner-up is not happy.
