Texas County Requests Help from State Troopers After Austin Defunds Police
Breitbart ^ | 23 Aug 2020 | LANA SHADWICK

A Texas county called for law enforcement reinforcements from Governor Greg Abbott after the Austin City Council cut its police department budget by one-third. The county judge from Williamson County said the $150 million budget cut to the Austin Police Department by the city council places Austin officers and their families “in great peril.”...

District 6 Councilman Flannigan wrote in his plan posted on AustinCouncilForum.org: “We should expedite the demolition of the APD Headquarters by directing the City Manager to move all remaining APD staff out of the existing headquarters building and into other underutilized city facilities.”

The city council plans to cut the Austin Police Department budget by one-third and redirect some of the funds to abortion and food programs.

Governor Abbott promised that “the Texas Department of Public Safety will stand in the gap to protect our city.”

Breitbart Texas recently reported that the City of Austin became number one in Texas in the percentage increase in the number of murders. The number of murders in the city rose by 64 percent in a year-to-year comparison, Governor Abbott stated. The report cited by the governor also revealed a 14 percent increase in aggravated robberies while other robberies increased by 16 percent.

The Texas governor met the city council’s action with a call for legislation to freeze the property tax revenue of any city acting to “defund police,” Breitbart Texas reported. Lt. Governor Dan Patrick pledged to make this a priority in next year’s legislative session.

More Democrat madness on display - Over the Big Top.

Such a clown show that it would be funny, if it were not so deadly serious.

Austin Police should write citations to make up the shortfall.

Jaywalkers Guadalupe by U.T.
Jaywalkers and PI on 6th street every Friday and Saturday night
Vagrancy
Parking fines
Speeding
Smoking pot in public

Keep Austin Solvent

If Gov Abbot helps, it would take the pressure off of Austin, thus, will have the same effect as Temporary Protected Status (TPS) did for Central Americans fleeing to the US after Hurricane Mitch: we now have 1/5 of every country from Central America and they never went home— all because the political pressure to REFORM their own countries was eliminated.

Let Austin live without a full police force. Let Texans find their 6-shooters.

I, for one, agree with your statement. If the state rushes in too quickly the fools making these idiotic decisions will be bailed out from the consequences of their idiotic decisions.
The residents of Austin need to feel the pain of those decisions. Specifically, the people that voted for the mayor and city council members.
People who gravitate to state Capitals by and large are uber liberals. It doesn’t seem to matter how conservative a state may be overall.

Another article further down the list reports that every city council spot has an opponent this election. Austin may not be as blue as the demonrat think.

For a long while. Long enough to turn Austin back into Texas again.

The police should just walk out en mass.

Let Austin’s Leftist thinkers figure it out.

That goes for any college campus police, or any other law
enforcement people in the city.

Just leave these bergs wide open.

Watch what happens.

Do not call in extra help.

Nearby community police agencies should refuse to help out.

Let Austin have what it seems to want, in total.

https://www.builtinaustin.com/2020/07/23/tesla-austin-gigafactory-confirmed-hiring

Tesla just confirmed its long-rumored plans to open its next gigafactory in Austin, but its expansion to central Texas might not stop there.

The electric vehicle maker’s next move, according to John Boyd, a corporate site selection expert who’s been watching Tesla closely for years, could be relocating its corporate headquarters to the region.

“Given this new gigafactory in Austin, this now renews talk and puts a spotlight on this idea of Tesla moving its corporate headquarters, which now is currently spread over three campuses in the Bay Area and in the Silicon Valley, into Austin,” Boyd, head of The Boyd Company economic consulting group, told Built In.

Move the capitol back to Washington on the Brazos. The state legislature meets under a live oak tree.
