Why I Am No Longer a Social Worker
American Thinker.com ^ | August 22, 2020 | Judith Acosta

It started one ordinary day, in one otherwise ordinary session: A beautiful young woman I had known for a few years wanted to cut off her breasts. (Details changed to protect identity.)

“What happened?” In my mind, the first concern was cancer.

“Nothing. I just hate them. I’d really like to be rid of them. I was just wondering what you thought.”

So I told her. She had a long history of abuse, abandonment, and self-mutilation. Given that, I suggested, didn’t it seem like another aspect of self-hatred and rage? I urged her to take time to really consider all the ramifications -- its effect on her physiology, on her partner, on her children.

She bristled and said I was being unsupportive. I explained I couldn’t be supportive of something that was an extension of existing pathology.

She found another, more supportive therapist, and is now living with the results of her surgery.

That was the beginning of the end for me.

For weeks afterward I found myself fighting off fears of being reported to the licensing board for not agreeing with her and realized, finally, that the whole profession had become a political platform. Therapy had become a form of indoctrination and if you weren’t goose-stepping with whatever was trending, you were truly risking everything.

This is honestly a great loss for everyone because social work had so much promise in its beginnings.

Ah, the Nth confirmation (where N is a large number) that liberals/progressives/idiots (all the same) turn everything they touch to Obamastuff.

EVERYTHING.

Leftism is evil.

It is predicated on irrationality, falsehood, immorality, and hatred.

The sole end of leftism is to destroy everything that God loves.

The goal of the left is to turn everything political. And destroy it in the process.

I may offend some by saying this, but I’ve long said that this world would be better off without two particular professions: social workers and human resources managers.

Oddly enough, the only HR manager I ever knew who was actually a useful and valuable asset to the company was a former social worker who started working in HR because it paid better. She was a great HR manager because she tolerated no bullsh!t and could spot a “problem employee” from miles away.

I certainly agree with the latter.

Therapist: ...and what do we say when we feel like this?

Me: ...um.......um....LINE

Stage Manager: IT DOESN’T DEFINE ME AS A PERSON

Me: It doesn’t define me as a person.

Therapist: You have to stop bringing Stage Managers to these sessions.

This one fits:

Therapist: “And what do we say when we feel like this?”

Me: “My illness is chronic but my tits are iconic”

Therapist: “No”

The profession was created and designed to support social engineering efforts, trying to use it to combat those efforts will get one ousted from the profession or charged with malpractice.

We build. They break.

That is exactly how I see the situation. No wiggle room.

——There is no situation so terrible, so disgraceful, that the federal government can not make worse-——

Corollary:

There is no person so terrible, so disgraceful, that they can not serve as a horribly bad example

The world has always had a tendency for worshipping golden calves.

Why is it so strong in America today? Because we support it through printing of money and massive debt, distributed by government.

This is why I’m glad I’m old and I will die before too much longer. I don’t fit in this inhumane world anymore.

I could write a similar article “Why I Am No Longer A Power Engineer.”

The utility industry was once run by engineers who built magnificent power plants. After graduating as a mechanical engineer, I got into the industry in the early 70s at the tail end of that era. The industry was slowly taken over by the ultra-green kooks who don’t know the difference between a BTU and a BLM.

Utility executives and managers kneeled before every ultra-green outfit around the world (this was way before kneeling became fashionable). The became committed to “defossilizing” the industry and, if you crossed them, your career was at an end. To get ahead professionally, you had to bow down before them, sing the praises of “renewables” and do penance for having once burned coal in your career.

After 25 years, I could no longer stand the non-stop politicization of the energy industry and got out.

I sure miss the USA where you could just have a career and do your job.
