Texas Governor Greg Abbott slammed the Austin City Council for its decision to strip $150 million from the capital city’s police department.

“Some cities are more focused on political agendas than public safety,” Governor Abbott said in a written statement. “Austin’s decision puts the brave men and women of the Austin Police Department and their families at greater risk, and paves the way for lawlessness.”

The entire Austin City Council voted to cut $150 million from the city’s police department budget on Thursday, the Texas Tribune reported.

Don’t let the state police to come to Austin’s rescue. When people take stupid, leftist decisions, the consequences must be felt, or else folks will never learn.

Time for the state to step in and strip Austin of the power to determine budgets or policing policies. Any power exercised by a municipality is on loan from the state. States are sovereign. Cities and counties are not. The state can rescind the powers of any city in their territory any time the want.

One has to remember that Austin proper is populated mostly with aging hippies and their progeny who still believe that flowers and unicorn tears will save the world. Most of the sensible folks have moved to the multiple bedroom cities around the city. Austin, much like Houston is a blue dot in a red tapestry.

I’m not sure if Austin has a nickname but Houston is known as ‘Washington DC on the Brazos’. This is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the majority population which have a high melanin characteristic.

I may be making a move to College Station, TX for work. I hope this nonsense doesn’t bleed over to there since it is a college town.

I would have said don’t worry, A&M is more conservative than just about any college in Texas except for Baylor but the lunacy and fecklessness is spreading rapidly.

More and more each year, it does. A&M has made some bonehead moves here lately that shows it’s been infected.

Baylor has become infected as well. One of my Bible Study friends sent their daughter to Baylor the past few years. She’s conservative but the campus no longer is. It should be noted that the last two Democrat governors of Texas were Baylor grads (although that goes back to the last century).

Austin, specifically. You just know they Googled “Most liberal-friendly place to move in Texas” before the U-Haul was reserved.

You can walk across the city limits in any direction and literally walk into a different country. The difference is that stark. It must be the bat guano falling into the Lake Austin water supply.
