Kim Foxx drops more felony cases as Cook County state’s attorney than her predecessor, Tribune analysis shows
Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx is dropping felony cases involving charges of murder and other serious offenses at a higher rate than her predecessor, according to a Tribune analysis that comes amid a growing debate over criminal justice reform.
During Foxx’s first three years as the county’s top prosecutor, her office dropped all charges against 29.9% of felony defendants, a dramatic increase over her predecessor, the Tribune found. For the last three years of Anita Alvarez’s tenure, the rate was 19.4%.
In all, a total of 25,183 people had their felony cases dismissed under Foxx through November 2019, up from 18,694 for a similar period under Alvarez.

Her announcement clearly should have been,.... “I Lori Elaine Lightfoot have completely failed my civic duties. Therefore I resign and need to be imprisoned for aiding and abetting domestic terrorists.”
Foxx will let them go.

The only ones you’ll come for are those trying to defend their businesses, families and properties.
It is open season. It is amazing how the criminals are indulging in criminal behavior with complete immunity. They either don’t get arrested or bail out without having to pay anything immediately. They have learned there is no down side to crime. Heads they win and tails they don’t lose. All of these various big metropolitian cities in blue states have such enabling laws, the criminals are having a field day. I am starting to wonder if cracking down alone will put the genii back in the bottle. It seems like a new normal is being set. By overwhelming police who can’t be everywhere in big numbers, they criminals have learned they can engage in crime with impunity wherever the cops can’t be or aren’t allowed to be.
It will be interesting to see if an equally large wave of vigilantism is the response.
It would appear that some are doing a little early Christmas shopping. In their usual manner.
Mayor Bugeyes, after weeks and weeks of not coming for the criminals you can understand my skepticism that suddenly you are tough on them.

One strategy new to me was driving a car into the huge plate glass of a store. That way lots of looters could get into the store quickly, I guess.
In her press conference today mayor Lightfoot said that this looting was not like, “The righteous uprising in the week of the killing of George Floyd.” It seemed to me that she said this to give herself cover for allowing the looting to go on in May and June. She also said “we can’t continue to allow this to happen.” I say the operative word “continue”
shows that she did allow it before.
“We are coming for you.”
