The shooter is extraordinarily fortunate that a CC holder didn’t see and react to the situation.

Aiming anything that could be interpreted as a firearm at innocent people is a good way to get yourself very dead very quickly.

I would have preferred return fire with a sufficient caliber instead of simply “in custody”, but I guess you can’t have everything.

Is this the kind of gun modern artists use to blast paint at canvases?

I was up in the Grass Valley area a year ago.
There seems to be a battle going on between the long time residents and the Privileged Class who are leaving the Bay Area.

No, airsoft shoots a plastic bb. I think you’d have to hit someone in the eye for it to do any damage.

Not just plastic BBs but also pellets. Some pellet rifles can be as powerful as a 22 but those kind have a big CO2 tank attached to them. Not as much range or accuracy though.

350 fps. You could put an eye out with that. Probably hurt at least. Need more people licensed to carry.

Ask Garrett Foster about that.

Airsoft is more like a step above paintball and a step below (or on a par with) BB-guns. It’s a thing and there are a ton of videos on youtube about it. There are rules as the weapons can hurt you if the mass/fps ratio is exceeded. And they have electronic devices for checking this out before they let you play.

Your more serious and mentally balanced airsoft aficianado (going by the videos) treat their airsoft weapon rifle/pistol/whatever as real as their deadly counterparts and players will be escorted off airsoft fields if they ever forget it. Everyone typically wears heavy clothing, eye and ear protection, gloves, and a head cover of some sort.

But there are nuts out there, like the guy referenced in the story, who try to start trouble or just don’t practice the requisite discipline.

I don’t have any airsoft gear. I tried paintball 30 years ago and, while a lot fun with people you know really well, can be very unfun with ubercompetitive strangers. Especially with alcohol in the mix. Once I encountered that, it was no longer something I wanted any part of.

Fun to watch, like pro sports before it became thoroughly politicized, but not something I care to do.

If the leftist news media and others can say the clearing of the violent mob (in front of the church across from the White House where President Trump had to have room to safely walk with his Bible) were attacked “with a military chemical warfare agent” which was regular tear gas!!!! then we can say this twit fired a weapon. Twelve Secret Service agents had been physically injured by the mob the day before Trump held his Bible-—so they aren’t Mister Rogers types.

Like the toy gun crime fad around the 1980s-1990s which caused them to get banned in public and have orange tips mandatory. “My client only had a toy gun, your honor, so he shouldn’t be sent to prison.” And the hand in the pocket “So, you never actually saw a gun in my client’s hand yourself, is that true?”

Ask Garrett Foster about that.

Happily, the late Mr. Foster is unable to respond.

Who is he? Didn't I see him in one of the Rocky movies?

That was my first reaction, too. Many airsoft guns are extremely realistic looking and many people attending a support the police rally will be armed.

That is either one real stupid person or a martyr wanna-be.

Can’t get the Sacbee article to hold on my computer screen. Can anyone tell me the name of the shooter and any group association identifications? Thanks.
