The Beirut Blast Is A Reminder That Hezbollah Has Ruined Lebanon
The Federalist. ^ | AUGUST 6, 2020 | John Daniel Davidson

More than any other group in Lebanon, the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah bears responsibility for the conditions that led to the blast.

...

Lebanon is a mafia state governed entirely through criminality and institutionalized corruption. The .. Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah.

If there’s one group that bears primary responsibility for the state of affairs in Lebanon that led to the explosion in Beirut, it’s Hezbollah.

...

Tony Badran.. Hezbollah’s role in governing Lebanon. .. the terrorist group isn’t a parallel structure to the government, it is the government.

...

Hezbollah has long used the port for massive commercial scams and money-laundering. For years, the port of Beirut has been a hub of corruption, with a highly organized network for tax evasion and fraud that involves the country’s entire political class.

When shipments of cell phones or imitation designer-brand clothes come in from China, or rebar comes in from Iran, these goods are often brought in without customs tariffs or taxes and then sold below market price. And of course Hezbollah always gets a cut.

So no wonder the customs chief’s six letters sent to a judge beginning in 2014 warning about the ammonium nitrate were ignored.

...

allowing Project Cassandra to go forward would jeopardize the Iran deal, so the Obama administration undermined it as a matter of policy. At the same time, it advanced a policy of appeasement toward Hezbollah. Before he became CIA director under Obama, John Brennan advocated for “greater assimilation of Hezbollah into Lebanon’s political system,”

Project Cassandra members say the administration blocked their efforts to go after top Hezbollah operatives, investigate its envoy to Iran, or charge the group’s military wing as an ongoing criminal enterprise under federal racketeering laws. At every turn, the Obama administration protected Hezbollah.

I briefly considered a small donation to one of the many relief orgs that popped up after the explosion, then realized my money would just go to Hezbollah, not to relief.

Antifa wants to do for Portland and for the United States what Hezbollah did for Beirut and for Lebanon.

I remember years ago when I was a kid seeing trips to Lebanon on The Price is Right with pictures of their beautiful beaches - damn shame how a country can be ruined.

It used to be the “Mid East Riviera”. I was told by a Muzzie friend that you could swim in the AM and go skiing in the PM. Hezbollah was hired to F up the country so people (foriegners) would go to Dubai to make it a hot vacation and people would spend their money in that Muzzie shithole.

Antifa wants to do for Portland and for the United States what Hezbollah did for Beirut and for Lebanon.

Very good analogy.

Hezbollah was hired to scare tourists into spending money in Dubai instead of Lebanon?

The Port of Beirut was the most corrupt place in all of Lebanon. At this point it is not at all clear that Hezbollah had anything to do with this. It is very clear that plain incompetence and corruption did.

That’s the story of a Muzzie who was a gainfully employed man in Lebanon at the onset of the troubles until he got to come here. He is still pissed at the Muzzies who set this in motion. Hezbollah is merely a well paid hit man.

More accurately, radical Islam. Hizbollah was founded in 1985. The 1975 civil war between Maronite Christians and palestinians, largely PLO member groups, was the end of the Paris of the Mideast. It was downhill from there.

Great Twitter thread with pictures of huge protests against Hezbollah.

Heshmat Alavi
@HeshmatAlavi

Protesters from across the country are entering the capital, protesting & vowing to avenge those killed in Tuesday’s blast.
Protesters rallied outside the parliament. There has been growing anger recently against #Iran-backed Hezbollah.

I’d suggest they have a good start in both Portland and Seattle. NYC I’d give credit to their mayor. I doubt any of these will be major tourist destinations any time soon, and suspect all will be shedding residents.

It’s not clear that Hezbollah was connected to anything that triggered this blast. It is perfect clear that Hezbollah and the civil war turned Beirut into a corrupt cesspool where this blast was inevitable.
