.THE WHITE HOUSE (Gray DC) - In a broadcast exclusive, President Donald Trump tells Gray Television Washington Bureau Chief Jacqueline Policastro he’s ready to step in to provide another stimulus to Americans struggling during the coronavirus pandemic.
“The plague came in, and it’s not the people’s fault. So, we want to take care of them,” said Trump.
The president said he wants to extend the $600 weekly benefit to unemployed Americans.

President Trump:
Yeah. I want to get them. I want to get them a lot. It's not their fault. It's China's fault that this whole thing happened. We were setting records. We were doing unbelievable business. It was an incredible thing, we've never done so well. Breaking records on employment, on the stock market, although the stock market's almost what it was, which is pretty incredible in itself, but we were breaking every record you can do. And then this, the plague, I call it the plague, came in and it's not the people's fault. So we want to take care of them. Really good. Take care of them very well.

I could go along with matching your income from the job you were laid off of. But please tell me how a person that was making $400-600 a week working then recipes in the area of $900 a week not working is not able to pay the bills they had prior. The sob stories of people being evicted or not able to buy food do not make sense.
The PROBLEM is that some of us who are “not considered to be unemployed” (mostly contractors) are “furloughed”/”temporarily laid off” & while we await being “called back” are having a hard time paying our monthly bills AND nobody (not even a fast food place or contracting company) wants to hire someone who may well be gone in 21, , 3, 4 or 5 weeks.
(Fwiw, I’ve been told that I’ll be called back to the jobsite in 3 or 4 weeks. - In the meantime, I’m FLAT BROKE & even groceries are unaffordable.= 600.oo would fix things until then.)
Therefore, DJT is 100% CORRECT as it is NOBODY’S fault (except maybe the Chinese government’s, IF they actually knew how bad that the virus would get.) that we are “out of work” & all of us citizens cannot afford for the entire US economy to COLLAPSE.

You can’t out-democrat the democrats. I doubt this will get him extra votes and may sour some of his base, especially small businessmen that are having trouble hiring people.

Spokeshave and family struggling to survive after my major 2 surgeries in June....that extra $600 keeps the wolf from the door.
Do you realize the logistics that would be required - especially under current conditions - to accurately fulfill that ‘matching’? I haven’t even received my 2019 tax refund yet.
We’re in the equivalent of war, and we have to help people as soon as we can, even if mistakes are made in some situations.
I’d much rather see some money going to people in my neighborhood who are suffering, than $25 Million going to the Kennedy Center.

You appear to indicate that you are working, so I assume you still have an income.
What about the people who worked for small businesses that are now closed, people who held jobs, perhaps for many years, and were laid-off and can’t find a new job quickly?
You are exhibiting the callous thoughtlessness that many attribute to the President - while HE is exhibiting thoughtfulness and concern.
Trump can save the economy once we get the pandemic under control... Biden (or whoever his VP is) would spend the money and NOT get things back to where they were. Trump’s our hope for the future.

And don't whine to me about the debt. We don't need tens of thousands of troops around the globe, or the A-10 Warthog, or any number of other countless billions for a long-ended Cold War.
