Residents in Norway have been reeling from the country's coldest summer in nearly 30 to 60 years. Early in July, more than 10 m (32 feet) of snow accumulated in parts of the southern region, which was unprecedented for this time of the year.
According to state meteorologists, Oslo has recorded an average temperature of just 14.7 °C (58.5 °F) this month, which was the coldest in nearly 30 years.
Meanwhile, Bergen's average has been even colder at 12.8 °C (55 °F). Trondheim hit 12.1 °C (53.8 °F), the coldest for almost 60 years.
“ In Oslo, we have to go back to 1993 to find such low average temperatures as we’ve had this summer, and back to 1996 in Bergen. In Trondheim, we have to go all the way back to 1962," state meteorologist Gunnar Livik confirmed.
Snow has also been covering the mountains, with Folldall hitting a below-freezing temperature of -4 °C (24.8 °F).
It was warm in June when the summer season started, but going into July, it has been unusually cold in Norway.
The country entered the month with unprecedented accumulated snow of more than 10 m (32 feet) in parts of the southern region.
"We have not had such [heavy] snowfall as this year," said Knut Kinne, watercourse technical manager at BKK who conducted clearing operations in the mountains.
"We had a clear change in the weather at the end of June," Livik continued. "July has been a cold month with lots of unstable weather."

Hottest July (avg day/night temp = 99 degrees) on record (since 1895) in Phoenix.
We here 65 miles north of DeBlasio city had snow on May 9th. This was one of the coldest springs I can remember since at least the early 80’s.
Many flowers and shrubs are still showing the damage from that cold snap.
Most of our springs are on the cool side right up until May now for at least the last 10 to 15 years.
The heat is on from late September at times to at least late April beginning of May some years.

I believe Oslo, Norway, is about the same latitude as Anchorage, Alaska, which is at 61°F about now. No wonder it’s cold!

I was sitting at a pool reading a paper back book. After a while the pages of the book started to come out. The glue as melting!
Drove one winter with a friend to Phoenix from Chicago. In a little over 24hrs. went from -20 to 80. Heaven.
Phoenix has urban heat island issues. Heat records there are meaningless, partiicularly nighttime or average of day and night temperatures.
Land use changes and the materials used to build infrastructure were determined to be the most significant factors in determining the magnitude of the Phoenix (and similar cities) UHIE. These materials effectively reduce surface albedo and emissivity, decrease latent heat release by lowering the water permeability of surfaces, and increase the storage heat flux due to greater surface area density and much larger thermal mass offsetting the lower specific heat capacity. Anthropogenic heat release is also a factor, but mainly in dense urban cities....

Well, if it wasn’t so hot in Florida and Arizona, a good portion of that heat would have flowed into Sweden. It’s the way global warming works.

I wish we could import some of that cold air into the U.S. Where I live, we virtually had no winter weather, but of course we have a very hot summer.

In West Central WA, we finally got a day into the mid 80’s about July 23rd or so. Since then it reached 90 twice now. The last three days now we have heavy dew in the AM and heat reaching 78+ or -. To me it is a year without summer, as the rains never let up until July 15th. Of course the news in Seattle, that faraway island of misfit brains, they report a record dry spell. They never think of the heat collection brought on by the asphalt and high rise buildings. HOTTEST DAY in HISTORY at the Sea-Tac airport.
