True. Being mid-50s, even working in the tech again is basically impossible. Companies big and small prefer filthy Indian trash to Americans with decades of experience, even for basically entry-level positions.
And myself and my family cant survive getting a 75% cut in wages. Going from 100K plus a year to the 25K offered by a vast majority of brutal subsistence wage part-time jobs is just crazy. Those aged 45 to retirement rarely have bills and expenses the same as high school drop-outs with no experience.
But many here expect someone working white-collar work to slot into manual labor work. Its about as effective as a manual laborer being asked to do anything that requires multi-variable calculus. Different skill sets. Brains vs. brawn.
