Hurricane Isaias
NOAA/NHC ^ | 29 July 2020 | NOAA/NHC

Posted on 07/29/2020 7:48:51 PM PDT by NautiNurse

Tropical Storm Isaias developed in the Eastern Caribbean Sea. All interests along the Florida Peninsula should be prepared for deteriorating weather conditions by Saturday.

For linguistics aficionados, the National Hurricane Center uses the four-syllable pronunciation ees-ah-EE-ahs. The name Isaias is Spanish for Isaiah. To hear a meteorologist pronounce Isaias: NWS Melbourne.

This storm system is currently moving at a brisk pace. Watch for land interaction with the mountains of Hispanola and wind shear. Plan accordingly.

I was looking at the NHC’s website last night and they said there was a 90% of it developing into a full hurricane - although they didn’t say what the intensity would be.

This will be an interesting one to watch.

Well, it might turn into a good test of my folks’ assisted living place in Ft. Myers. It did ok in the last one to hit there.

It seems to be trending more to the east. I saw a projected track earlier that showed it crossing Florida into the Gulf, now they predict it going up the east coast.

Prepper ping.

Hurricane season is underway. I don’t know how that might affect supply lines, but I’m still planning for whatever Oct surprise the dems have up their sleeve. That really only leaves us two months to prep.

It’s going to go more quickly that we realize.

Big track shift eastward since the 1700 graphics.

Instead of riding up the center of the FL penisula now looks like an indirect hit but placing all of Atlantic FL on the tornado-laden NW quadrant of circulation.

Definitely a shift back eastward. Seems recon had a challenge locating the center of circulation today. Finally got a fix tonight.

One “upside” of my COVID=19 prep is I already have my hurricane prep done to combat what the gov’t might shut down next.

The hyperventilating by so many over a nonevent is Laughable. And, PATHETIC.
Even here on FreeRepublic we have the FluBros/FluBras joining with the StormBroS/StormBras with their typical overreaction.
This weather event may result in some rain. Maybe. Perhaps some wind gusts. In other words, typical Florida summer weather.

The only one hyperventilating around here is you. Take your grumpy rump and rain your misery on a different thread. Buh bye.

Hello again,

A few nasty bands so far. We just had a particular strong cell go through the San Juan metro area, but not too bad. Miraculously, power is still holding up, knock on wood.

We sure could use the rain as we had been in a drought and under water rationing recently.

Good luck downstream.

Hiya cll! Been thinking of you today. Thanks much for checking in. Please provide local updates when you can. Stay safe & dry.

p.s. Did FR have a PR topic for posting a thread in the past? Couldn't locate one, and inserting PR as a topic didn't work. Anyhow, I tried.

Only as a keyword. Just did.

It’s been hit and miss since about 2:00 PM. Localized power outages, which to us is an achievement. My office is near the beach and we lost power for about 8 hours in the PM/evening. Now it is back. Thankfully, before the corona thing we had invested in a brand new 38KW Generac and it has been humming along nicely. Our old 20KW burned out from abuse after the January earthquakes and the 2017 hurricanes.

At home everything’s fine so far. You guys take care up there.
