“It took a few generations for Eastern Europeans and Russians to become thoroughly disillusioned with Communist rule.”

They were disillusioned from the very beginning, but were crushed under the iron fist of the KGB and the iron boot of the Red Army.

Only when the totalitarian states collapsed under their own weight could people yearning to breathe free express themselves.

Joey Votto has been parading around GABC in a BLM T-Shirt. Dollars to donuts that head case takes a knee (and probably a called third strike while he’s on that knee).

Certainly some felt that way.

But back to my question... do emigrating Californians feel that way now?

I agree that is a fundamental question. My own view is that the people in California have been brainwashed and will not easily shed the belief system inculcated in them by years of indoctrination and voting habits. Californication if you will.

They will bring most of their voting tendencies with them but maybe what’s going on there will give some of them pause to reconsider the reasons they left.

Lots of northeasterners are moving into the Carolinas. It appears that North Carolina has already been affected by this migration. Old habits die hard.

Sure am glad I grew up in Los Angeles when I did. Vin Scully announcing and the Garvey, Cey, Russell and Lopes Infield.

Even saw Fernando Pitch his first losing Home Game. I still blame myself for that. If only I didn’t show up...

Have been Giants fan since they played in NYC. Will have to spend more time rooting/watching Yankees I guess.

LOL, you don't think the Yankees will follow suit?

I used to go to a lot of Astros games in the Astrodome. It was cheap to get outfield tickets, and several of us would go after work. I went to one game when the Dodgers were in town and Valenzuela was pitching. It was like I was in Mexico. I think every Mexican in Houston showed up, and Mexican flags were much in evidence, as were shouts of "Fernandito!" Was it that way in L.A.?

I see it pretty much the way you do.

I have a few friends and relatives in CA. They have definitely drunk the liberal Kool-Aid. But they aren't leaving yet, either. Sad, they once seemed like sensible people.

I also have connections to NC. I've been down to visit a few times over the past decade. I live in MA. I was amazed at how much open space there is in NC, and how it seems it could be swayed one way or another by immigration.

I have three sons, but my youngest is the libertarian/liberal one, who has spent a little too much time in the Raleigh/UNC area. While sensible about many things (for example, he knew Hillary was hopelessly corrupt and that Biden is a doddering old fool), he still suffers from "Orange-man bad" TDS, and thinks that far-sighted enough programs will somehow fix societal ills better than old-fashioned mind-your-own-business conservative approaches.

He's affected by 30-something on the ground culture in NC, and he votes. I'm not surprised that NC has many left initiatives in education and other areas.

Fernandomania was in full swing but it was fun times back then. He had a story, a poor Kid from Mexico making good and everyone in the Stands were on their feet praying for him to pitch another Strike.

There wasn't any us and them back then. Don't recall seeing a lot of Mexican Flags, but the Latinos in the Stands were very proud watching Fernando annihilate the opposing Bench, even the Latino Players on the other Team.

His Pitching Style was something to see. When he first appeared the Batters had no idea what was coming from the Mound. It was great until they caught on. LOL

I am a man in my 70’s, I have worked within many sports at most levels most of my life as a player, coach, official, tournament director, and staff, for state, federal, and international, until my health took it away. I kneel only to God and lower my head in respect to “Old Glory.”

Sports was my passion for 50 years, but now it’s gone. Sad and painful.

Too bad fans are not able to attend games. A sure way to show MLB (BLM) would be the vast number of empty seats at each game.

The Atlanta Braves have removed their famous Chop. I started to pull all of my baseball stuff in support of the team, but I am going to put everything back and also pack away my shirts and caps.

I am no longer going to support baseball.

I have the ability to watch all games for free on internet TV, not going to do it either.

By not watching or streaming, assures a bunch of empty seats! (Metaphorically) And, still hits teams bottom line.

I haven’t watched an NFL game since they declined to take a stand against players disrespecting veterans who fought for their right to kneel.

I already bought my season tickets for EKU football since it has to be done well in advance. I did send an email and asked that if the coaches, athletic department, and president allow the players to disrespect veterans would I be able to get a refund. No response yet and I don’t expect one. But in years past, the football team has been in the locker room during the anthem so it may be a non-issue for football.

But I’m not buying basketball tickets yet. During those games the teams are normally lined up on the foul line. Maybe I’ll go to the first exhibition game (free) and leave right after they disrespect the flag never to return.

He is mentioned in the same breath as Ted Williams...for his batting eye. Imagine if these punks had to be drafted into Foreign Wars like Williams.

"San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler and a handful of players took a knee during the national anthem prior to the team's "Summer Camp" exhibition game against the Oakland Athletics Monday night.

One of our local relatives predicted this.

We cut our cable 3 years and subscribed to Sling Blue to watch the SF Giants and not subsidize ESPN, ABC/Disney with a monthly fee.

So, our Sling Blue monthly connection has expired and will stay expired like our Hallmark monthly channel fee.

I can’t wait until people start kneeling during the black national anthem.

Shirley you jest, and yes, I will stop calling you Shirley.

Double standards are in full parade, kneel for the black national anthem and the next time you kneel is for your beheading, mark my words.
