President Donald Trump on Tuesday refused to answer a question about police violence against Black people, instead pointing out that white people are also sometimes victims of police violence.
"And so are white people, so are white people," Trump said in an interview with CBS’s Catherine Herridge when asked why Black Americans are still dying at the hands of law enforcement.
"What a terrible question to ask. So are white people, more white people by the way, more white people," Trump continued.

Liberals routinely say that more white people than black are on welfare. When per-capita statistics are pointed out to them, they wave it off and accuse you of splitting hairs and playing games with statistics.

It was very clear from President Trump’s comment that he was referring to absolute numbers, not race-specific population percentages.
Yeah, they're much more likely to have an encounter with police and much more likely it will end violently.

Difference in rate is actually minimal. 2 fold with regard to killed. With regard to percent of population we’re looking at n divided by 300 million vs 2n divided by 300 million.

What the President said is literally true without the statistical quibbles provided by NBC.

The correct answer is because black people commit more crime. The way to reduce police shootings is to reduce crime. That should be the focus of the discussion. How do we reduce crime in the black community??
The Wash Post database (https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/investigations/police-shootings-database/) tracks fatalities at hands of police since 2015. If you look a unarmed people not fleeing the scene (I assume that includes not resisting arrest?), 55 were black, 91 were white.
Great reply to Herridge who tried to trap the maestro with a gotcha question.

That would mean there are about 17 million murders a year.

And the rate of criminal behavior among blacks is at least 5 times as much as whites.
