Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) in an interview on Monday called ESPNs suspension of reporter Adrian Wojnarowski a distraction from the NBA's relationship with China and said he would support a Senate subpoena of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.
In an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Hawley said Wojnarowski, who was suspended by ESPN after he responded to an email from Hawleys press office with an expletive, should be reinstated.
The real concern, Hawley said, was that the NBA, which is allowing preapproved messages for players to wear on the back of their jerseys in response to player involvement in Black Lives Matter protests, did not include any phrases regarding China or supporting law enforcement.
If the NBAs going to put these social justice statements on the back of uniforms, which is what theyre doing now, why is it that theres nothing on there about free Hong Kong or the Uighurs or anything that has to do with the billions of dollars the NBA makes in China? Hawley said Monday. And you see the response from the reporter, and now ESPN, and say oh, you know, well, the reporter, well take care of that. Well silence him. But they dont want to address the core issue, which is the NBAs relationship with China. ESPN has a slice of that pie.
It's unclear that any players were pushing to have messages about China on their jerseys. The push to have messages about Black Lives Matter on jerseys and on NBA courts emanated from the nationwide demonstrations against institutional racism after the May killing of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis.

Hawley and Cotten are both good on exposing the communist Chinese threat. Keep it up boys!
It is not just the NBA. Most major companies have China in their supply chain. Walmart has massive ties with China https://www.epi.org/publication/the-wal-mart-effect/
A Senate subpoena of Adam Silver? Why? Don’t you have better things to do, Senator?
China, ESPN, and NBA....all dead to me.
Really, Gabby, you moron?!
Do you expect LeBrown James to allow that, seroiusly?
Did you see what happened to Drew Brees?
Hawley makes the previous Senator from Missouri look like the idiot she is.

Pull all manufacturing out of China, move it to Mexico and offer bonuses to illegals who are willing to go home to take a job. There would be tremendous savings in shipping and a shortened supply chain. It will also put the USA closer to sanitary and safety mitigation along with getting rid of underage slave labor.
Hawley is thinking of 2024. Same with Cotton.
It’s a good idea, the problem is the corruption of the Mexican gov. Kill all the gang members and leaders, then it could work, otherwise you’d be trading one set of thugs for another.
Maybe they should change the name to CBA, the Chinese Basketball Association, since they seem to want no association with the USA.
Hawley and Cotten are both good on exposing the communist Chinese threat. Keep it up boys!

Praying they don’t get corrupted by Bush League Republicans.
The other Senator from MO doesn’t look good by comparison either.
GOP states can do better.
Re-electing Bush League Republicans is counter-productive to MAGA.
Electing any Republican is better than electing any Democrat.
The existing Republicans have enacted the Trump agenda even though there is some political differences.
Mitch has held them together.
Mitch held them together to block the wall and stymie his first two years.
That’s the baseless rumor perpetrated by anti Republicans
That’s fact, bert, even if you refuse to believe it.
The only things that they backed Trump on were the tax cut and judges.
Everything else they blocked him.
Baseless?
Did the GOP congress deliver:
Infrasture? Nope. Obamacare repeal? Nope. Timely investigation of the ongoing coup? Nope. Etc., etc.
Meanwhile, the GOP is busy undermining POTUS on a variety of issues: Constitutionality of border emergency, troop withdrawals, etc.
I see from your replies that that denial isn’t just a river in Egypt.
Everyone remembers McCain sinking Obamacre repeal but Murkowski and Collins also voted against it, too. Did they ever face any sanction for that? No. Did McConnell and the GOP run on Obamacre repeal for 8 years? Yes. The proof is in the pudding as they say.
The NBA and players are simply money-grubbing whores. They have no respect for America or freedom. They could give a rats behind about the people paid pennies for producing their shoes and clothing. They see big market for their brand and will go thru hell to get it. Morality be damned.
