In France it is a surprise because unlike many European countries dealing with terrorism among the new hordes they import, France is dealing with it among the children and grandchildren of Muslims who came when the African colonies got their independence. That first group that basically fled to France (from Algeria and such) decades ago were NOTHING like this.
