If you were ever curious and wanted to be a fly on the wall in a forum with some of the leaders of unorganized militia groups in these United States, then this is for you.
There is an essay being circulated within militia circles, and I thought it was just too good not to let you peak into the Smokey Back room of what is being said, doubly so from the comments it has received. This comes from a militia leader, addressing everyone in open forum. I obtained permission to repost here. I did not edit it. It does contain salty language, but not gratuitously so. Please show forbearance as it is written with a warrior's spirit. I think the value here is the mindset of the militia is being challenged, recognizing that “Go Time” is approaching us quickly, and reality is causing no little self-evaluation. Not from all, but at least a significant number. Judging from many of your posts I see on Free Republic, this may answer some questions what is not plainly visible to you. It certainly isn't all that is being discussed, but I include it based off of reactions from leaders of several states. This essay will find its way to other platforms, but Free Republic is the first public post, aside from its original post in closed forum.

Excellent post. A friend of mine is USMC, Staff Sergeant, and looking for a local militia to get into. I asked him.if he was part of one yet, and he said no, but considered starting one. I told him I’d reach out first, and this is a great starting point.
God knows there has to be one in northeastern IL somewhere.

Um. There is no problem with the American Militia image. Relax. Just organize, practice and listen to experts on tactics. And yes, it is fun to practice and healthy to learn tactics.
Thankfully, President Trump is rebuilding the US Military so that the American Militia can become proper assistants.
My Dad was a pilot. When I was 12, he took me to Boston on one of his trips, and we walked the Liberty Trail.
On the way home at a stop in Denver, it appeared his plane would be full and my standby ticket would not allow me to get home that day. So he handed me $50, and told me to go get a hotel and come back the next day and try again. Then he walked on the plane.
I have had had a plan for all possible contingencies every day since.
All contingencies. Planned. In Advance.
And the only place they do and ever will exist is in my mind, unless things get out of hand and they need to be exercised.

There is plenty of information available about the Texas National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard, but I can't find any report with a statement of the number, condition, and organization of the reserve militia.
Even if there is NO reserve militia it should be in the report.
Typically with governments, however, an armed, trained (regulated) militia, the "Reserve militia", is what is most feared. It enforces in the mind of Citizens where the true power of a State is...with the People.
The closest most Texans can get to being reserve militia is to join the Texas State Guard and that isn't even the "Reserve militia".
That is one of the image problems the Old Guard has. Not so much with the new or relatively new (better term).
I have 2 retired feds, one retired po-po in my unit. What statute is being broken by 4A (freedom of association) and 2A?
The unorganized militia is LAW. 10 USC sect 246. It really does exist. Even though it is not what the Founders intended.
You are reacting to the fruits and nuts that exist by themselves, not the ones that are getting it done by working with the local cops and business owners. The myths are not reality.

In a 50 mile radius of me, there are only *7* “members”?
Yet every gun shop in the same radius is packed and struggling to meet demand?
IMO, the Celtic-blooded ‘billies are going Full Mosby/Children of the Mist and not adding their names or locations to ANY list, ever.
When/if the time comes, the hills will not only have eyes but a huge surprise.
