NJ Governor takes heat as DMV reopens

New Jersey’s governor tried to be understanding Tuesday when the state’s Motor Vehicle Commission offices reopened – with long lines and arguments among customers following a long coronavirus-related shutdown.

But many New Jerseyans posting on social media seemed to think Gov. Phil Murphy, a Democrat, could have done more to prevent the problems.

My wife went to two different DMV’s yesterday. She couldn’t come close to getting her license renewed. What a galactic effing joke. The punch line? The police were handing out summons at one place for failing to social distance. Even better, the grace period will be over soon for driving with an expired license. At least the police at the second office she went to were sympathetic (and critical of Murphy).

Months to plan and Murphy, the man permanently dressed with a smile akin to Jack Nicholson’s version of the joker, did nadda. The man who can march with BLM on a Monday, eat indoors with his family and fifteen friends (Char in Red Bank, NJ) on a Tuesday, lecture the “knuckle heads” for not social distancing on a Wednesday and close down indoor dining on a Thursday.

That effing guy, can’t use the months and months of closure to come up with a plan.

So outta here!!!

NJ should extend the grace period another month, at the very least.

Why would they do that? Think of all the fines and jail sentences they can now impose on the public. It’s a big money maker for the State.

As soon as conditions allow, we’re outahere, too.

In my lifetime (67 years), New Jersey has NEVER had a decent governor or legislature. I believe the “Political Hack” was invented in New Jersey.

We’ve been circling the drain for years. The buck-toothed moron at Drumthwacket is accelerating the process.

New Jersey is broke, and getting broker. Our taxes will go up again, but spending will increase even more. The first thing the state government did when they realized the size of the hole we’re in was to hand out more shovels.

There are beautiful areas in New Jersey. We’re blessed to live in one of them. The climate is quite pleasant - not too hot, not too cold. We don’t have earthquakes, tornadoes, or monster forest fires.

But what you describe re: Motor Vehicle Agency illustrates just one symptom of our malaise. Every - EVERY - bureaucratic agency and department in this state is completely effed up; run by political appointees (hacks) who will die at their desks (if they even bother to show up for work).

Nothing will change.

Ever

“Every - EVERY - bureaucratic agency and department in this state is completely effed up”

It always blows my mind with DMV’s. All you have to do is double the staffing, maybe by doubling the hours, or moving some backroom work off-site and you’d be a politico HERO to your state...and at far less cost than dumping more money into Newark, for example. But no one ever does...

Bob, as you probably know, Texas' DMV has been doing it by appointment only since early June. It took me 3 weeks to get an appointment, and I renewed my license a couple of days ago. The office I went to was running 90 minutes behind schedule, but they were pretty well organized. They kept everyone outside apprised of the situation, so that people could stay in their cars, rather than wait outside in long lines.

It was a lot better than the day last year I took my son in for his license. It took us over 8 hours from start to finish.

All the “state” (Murphy) gained from keeping the DMV employees on a multi-month paid vacation, was the votes of the DMV employees.

AND if Target, Costco, Home Depot, Trader Joes, Supermarkets and others were able to keep operating, with “social distance and masking rules”, so could have the DMV.

The complete closure of the DMV was NEVER NECESSARY.

The entire fiasco was manufactured by Murphy.

Watch how he does not pay for it at the polls.
