How many more babies will be murdered in Chicago’s street gang wars?
It’s time to stop the bleeding, Mayor Lightfoot. Stop the bleeding. And lead your city.
She’s thrown her police under the bus, but on Wednesday she announced a 180-degree change. She needs them. Now she wants her exhausted cops to sweep problem areas and make arrests, even if social justice warriors complain.
She’s been mugged by reality and knows virtue signaling and rhetoric won’t stop the gangs. Yes, that stuff excites national media and networks. They get tingles when she rips on President Donald Trump. He’s snarky, she’s snarky, and fighting with him from the blue city in the blue state gives her political cover from media criticism. But she can’t use Trump as a shield forever.
She’s the mayor. Families are weeping. And babies are being killed.
Notice that Black Lives Matter and their allies aren’t leading any angry demonstrations about Black and brown children being cut down in Chicago. Those dead babies have no political utility. Their lives don’t help the activists leverage the November elections. So those lives are ignored.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker won’t help her. He’s a soft billionaire, a marshmallow who wants to be liked and thinks he can become president. He cares about optics. He won’t order in the National Guard.
The Chicago Police Department is demoralized, exhausted and confused, and much of that is her own doing. She’s worked them to the bone. She lost them with her sarcasm and that ridiculous Bobby Rush popcorn drama.
Lightfoot threw Brown under the bus just two weeks on the job. Undercutting her new police superintendent in front of his troops was a bad move.
Bad optics isn’t about arrests being made, but babies being killed in the gang wars.
She’s out of time.

The important thing here is for her to REALLY blame everyone else for the problems of Chicago, and not the Mafia that has corrupted Cook County. As long as she can chum the waters and blame it on Bush or Trump...she will sail through the storm. For sure EVERYTHING that is wrong about Chicago is the fault of someone else.... Amazing - John Kasshole has been a full time cheerleader for Lighthead since she ran for Mayor. He even moved back into the city from the suburbs to promote her.
If Lighthead has lost Kasshole...she is a one termer. unfortunately, she can do a lot of damage in the next three years.

Don't look now but companies are quietly moving out of Chicago and specifically the downtown & gold coast areas. Tens of thousands of people will not be returning to office space in the city even after the China Virus is over.
Case in point: my employer announced internally that more than 6,500 of us will be working remotely (from home) going forward. The millions of dollars that were spent renovating space in a large loop office building are being written off and we're exercising our exit clause from the lease.
We're not just doing that in Chicago, btw. NYC, Florida, California and Arizona which are all big locations for us we'll be doing the same in.
Our WFH has been so successful that it's becoming permanent. Friends who work in the same line of business I do are saying the same thing about their employers.
For my employer specifically, the violence in Chicago was a tipping point. It's a flat-out "lack of confidence" in Chicago's mayor. My employer's CEO is as liberal as they come and very much a SJW who's implemented all this "bias training" bullsh*t that we all are being forced to complete. To announce internally that we won't be returning to our office spaces in Chicago was huge. Imagine 6,500+ people no longer going out for lunch in the city and the economic impact that's having when tens of thousands of others are doing the exact same thing.
