Mississippi House passes bill to take Confederate symbol off state flag

Mississippi’s state House of Representative on Sunday passed a bill to remove the Confederate flag from the state flag, with the Senate expected to pass the measure later today.

The lower chamber voted 91-23 to remove the symbol from the flag, which has flown since 1894. It was the nation’s last state flag containing the symbol. The legislation, written by House Speaker Philip Gunn (R), calls for the current flag to be immediately removed, after which a nine-person commission would be appointed to design a new one, Mississippi Today reported.

Under the terms of the bill, the commission would recommend a new flag design by mid-September, with Mississippi voters okaying or vetoing the design on Nov. 3, the publication reported.

Gov. Tate Reeves (R) has said he will sign any flag bill that reaches his desk. The bill is subject to change before final Senate passage, but under the terms of the bill, Reeves, Gunn and Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann would each appoint three people to the commission, according to the publication.

This was voted on by the people once before and it was voted down with about two to one margin .So if they don't get the vote they want this time they'll be back until they do ?

They will push this until they get what they want and then you’re never allowed to discuss it again.

“Mississippi’s state House of Representative on Sunday passed a bill to remove the Confederate flag from the state flag, with the Senate expected to pass the measure later today.”

And this, on a Sunday. There was a time not long ago that a state politician would not be caught fishing on a Sunday. Now, Sunday is just another day to do the work of Cesar.

Apparently George Soros and his hirelings called up members of the legislature and told them to get their ass up to the Capitol and vote overturn the previous vote of the electorate. Like, right now.

I have doubted polls showing weak public support for President Trump. Now, I'm not so sure.

When this many people in Mississippi, of all places, are scared to offend the over dogs, how many people are going to take a risk to buck the system in November?

“The lower chamber voted 91-23 to remove the symbol from the flag...”

At least it was a close vote.

And more than just that. I suppose most Mississippi legislators had good intentions. But this will just embolden the radicals to demand more and more.

And guess what? They’ll get it too. Literally no one in power - except Trump at times - is willing to just say no.

“You want that statue of Washington removed from campus? I don’t want to be called a racist. So, sure. We’ll remove it.”

They have been under pressure for many, many years to change their flag.

Frankly, I'm surprised they haven't caved long before now.

The sad thing is after all this drama and virtue signaling with removing flags, changing supposedly offensive words, yanking down statues, taking over city blocks, painting BLM on streets, renaming facilities, noose hoaxes, reparations demands, and defunding police, not one thing will have changed when it comes to black crime, black poverty, black illegitimacy, simply because we are too cowardly to man up and address the real causes that lay, not outside, but within the black community, to wit, illegitimate children,no fathers in the home, little value for education, etc.

This is one of the most conservative states in the USA. Sad.

Mississippi has always "talked" a good conservative show, but when it comes to nut-cutting time the politicians are as big a flag-burners as anybody in California or Massachusetts. Even Chris McDaniel, the so-called "leader of the resistance", was just another garden-variety Trent Lott-the-process-is-more-important-than-principle politician, until he latched onto the Tea Party movement. He even hired a speech coach to teach him how to speak with a Southern accent.

If their flag was so bad and so racist ... the obvious question is how could they allow it to fly over their state for over hundred years? It would seem the mob would ask that and want more.

“Frankly, I’m surprised they haven’t caved long before now.“

Ole Miss and Mississippi State advocated for the change.

Apparently, high school football recruits did not want to play
for a Mississippi school.

This issue was decided by 17 year old kids.

The left can fly the anarchist Antifa flag with impunity.

They can fly the marxist BLM flag without criticism.

They can fly the rainbow flag in the face of children and people of faith.

They burn the American flag.

But the right dare not fly a confederate flag or else they’ll be called racist.

It’s especially disheartening when our elected leaders support the left’s agenda.

The woke crowd’s job of changing state flags is just beginning:

GA state flag incorporates the original Stars and Bars.

FL and AL state flags contain the St. Andrews cross of the Confederacy.

The AK state flag contains the St. Andrews cross rearranged into a diamond AND contains a star honoring the C.S.A. put there by Gov. Bill Clinton.

Even the state flags of TX and NC incorporate a star & bars.

The flag wars are just getting started.

So the city of Vicksburg has not celebrated the Fourth of July since it was captured by General Grant. Will it be racist if they don’t celebrate it now?

.YES!! WE KNOW!! LOL
We see what the real agenda is playing out before our eyes, it wasn’t ever about the Confederate symbols.

Question is, after all we’re seeing, why can’t state officials in Mississippi see it?
