I watched the whole video yesterday. It looked like a justified shooting to me. If it had been a white guy you never would have heard about it.
Exactly, and it’s stupid. Cops being in such a lose-lose situation isn’t going to make them enthusiastic or strongly interested in the other issues that the state is trying to push.
I watched the video as well and listened to the press conference today. The DA says one of the charges against the officer was because he didn’t inform Brooks he was being arrested for DUI.
IIRC, he did tell Brooks he thought he was in no condition to drive and asked him to place his hands behind his back, I doubt he didn’t have the opportunity to tell Brooks officially he was under arrest before Brooks went off.
The officer screwed up when he supposedly kicked Brooks after he shot him and he was lying on the ground. There is supposedly video evidence of that act. If that is true, then Rolfe has some problems.
I think the DA overcharged this so he can take it to court and if Rolfe is acquitted on anything, he can point to the jury and say “not my fault”.
