In Tulsa, fears that Trump rally may worsen racial unrest, spread of coronavirus

TULSA, Okla. - When President Donald Trump takes the stage at his first rally in three months on Saturday night, the scene in Tulsa, Oklahoma, will be familiar: A large venue filled with ardent supporters wearing “Keep America Great” hats and T-shirts.

But outside the 19,199-seat arena is a country reshaped by the coronavirus pandemic, an economic collapse and a wave of protests over police brutality and racial injustice, a trio of crises that have dented his support just months before the Nov. 3 election.

Trump’s campaign advisers believe the rally is a way to rejuvenate his base and display the enthusiasm behind his re-election bid, at a time when a string of national and state opinion polls have shown Trump falling behind his Democratic rival, Joe Biden.

But even some Republican allies worry that his divisive rhetoric and unapologetic appeal to his conservative base may appear increasingly out of step with changing public opinion in the aftermath of last month’s killing of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, while in police custody in Minneapolis.

“His style and message won’t change, but the world has. I don’t know if he can get to places that people now care about,” said Amy Koch, a Republican strategist based in Minnesota.

More than a dozen black community leaders, activists and ministers who spoke to Reuters this week said they feared in particular for the arena workers, most of whom are elderly African Americans, a demographic that public health experts warn is extremely susceptible to the virus.

“The president’s rally here just seems to make the threat of coronavirus even more real and frightening from my perspective,” said the Rev. Ray Owens of Tulsa’s Metropolitan Baptist Church.

The world has completely changed in 6 months. No it hasn’t. The white people converting were idiots to begin with. Black lives matter was a terrorist organization and still is. The media is still owned by democrats and a lot of violence will be coming to this country in the coming years I think

“His style and message won’t change, but the world has.>>>>>>>>>>>>

The world has NOT changed.

Water is water. But because fish f*ck in it, the left refuse to drink water any longer. They take “Soma” instead and have become addicted to it.

President Trump will awaken them in November, and they will live or die then according to their lights.

The left knows it will lose as a million Americans sign up to attend the President’s Tulsa Rally.

The left thinks they can prevent Americas sentiments from manifesting? Let them try it if they want CWII, they will have earned it.

My friends in Tulsa say folks from around the entire country are trying to tickets. But the Republican leadership is telling them to stay home and save your money. There are so many folks locally who are on fire for POTUS and this rally. Even our Lib mayor has said he will not cancel this thing, despite lots of Rat pressure to do so for safety reasons.

The Rats scared to see over-the-top support for Trump.

A million people in a state the size of Oklahoma is close to 25% of the entire population. They can’t be very worried about much of anything besides scoring a ticket to the hottest show in OK history.

Swing and a miss. Trump is not responsible for the pandemic, its economic damage nor the BLM/Antifa anti cop shopping spree/anarchy. Trump supporters are not racist.

Trump rallies are an efficient way of delivering his message and countering the media narrative. The left doesn’t fear Covid, they fear Trump.

Exactly. Funny they did not see how riots, looting and mayhem could worsen racial unrest and spread the wuhan flu.

Journalism worthy of Pravda.

This old coot needs to get back on his meds. He’s babbling again.

In Tulsa, fears that Trump rally may worsen racial unrest...

I'll bet just about everyone who read that thought "Yes, probably right to fear that..." or something similar. Now let's stop and back up, consider what that means big-picture.

A rally is going to worsen racial unrest? How? Are a bunch of people wearing MAGA hats going to show up and start chanting "White power!" ??? Are they going to eschew MAGA hats and shirts for white robes and hoods?

No, of course not. So where is this "unrest" going to come from? Who is going to generate it? Apparently ah, certain minorities. Gosh, you mean those wonderful leftist minorities aren't going to be accepting or even tolerant of alternative ideas and viewpoints? Say it isn't so! ;-/

This racial unrest we seem to now just accept is apparently all generated from minorities, instigated from the left. They are being used by the left as a tool to try to gain power.

...spread of coronavirus...

The other part of the headline. Funny, I keep hearing how rallies for President Trump are feared/believed-to/anticipated-to etc. make the chinese virus worse. I don't hear/read any concern about protests involving thousands of densely packed, sweating, shouting, protesters are of any concern. It's almost like there's a double standard. Like the virus is used as an excuse to try to suppress things they disagree with, and ignored otherwise. Almost like it isn't really a threat... You know what, you can drop the word "almost" from the previous sentences...

Trump is the virus. That’s the message being constructed by Democrat, media, and Bureucratc state operatives. Riots, looting, arson, chaos, and violence, are merely the symptom. If you want to cure what hurts, you destroy the virus.(Trump)

I know that we all get irritated by Ann Coulter here. However, when the left threatened Civil War if GWB were reelected, she remarked: “It will be the shortest civil war in history. The right has all the men and all the guns”

Rev. Ray Owens doesn’t seem to have a lot of faith. The Metropolitan Baptist Church is in need of a leader with FAITH, not worry. The Rev. should talk less and study the word more.
