OK, social workers for disputes between neighbors.
How about for domestic disputes, which are reputed to be among the most dangerous calls that police have to deal with?
When seconds count, the social worker is several appointments away.

As for the domestic disputes intra family or with the next door neighbor, if cops were called it was because violence was very possible or already happened.
At least the neighbor disputes I’ve seen.

Social workers will get hurt because their theory cannot handle the violence/reality.
They’ll never allow this to go on too long. The police are the enforcement arm for the progressives. They need them.

Hello, 911, this is Jill, we're gonna need a new social worker.
Do they really have that many social workers sitting around doing nothing?
Are they going to put them in social-patrol cars, so they can respond quickly to emergencies?
I saw one of those stupid memes about how “defund police” leads to an idylic future where calls go to these specialists who show up and fix things; but completely ignores that the typical appointment for a government social workers is days, and sometimes weeks.
There is never enough blood to suit the progs.
Eventually, someone is going to remember that we used to have a problem where police ignored domestic calls, allowing the guys to beat up, rape, or kill their partners.
