In locked-down states, COVID _did_ make purchasing more difficult. We did it, though.
We closed end of March. Closing in a small WI town took place in separate cars in the title company parking lot. Everyone masked and gloved. IDs and signings recorded on cells.
Only was able to view 3-4 occupied properties. Most were unoccupied. Rural properties were contingent sometimes within hours and then back on market in days as financing became difficult. By May, usually the opening in the areas we were looking, prices were already being lowered. This accelerated sales. Those needing mortgages were required to show 1 year’s mortgage payments banked. We needed proof of funds before our escrow was accepted.
Inspectors so busy, it added time and interior/mechanical inspections were nearly impossible.
2nd closing in May. Our realtor not allowed to attend. Seller & title clerk masked/gloved. Saw we (elderly) were not and gratefully ripped theirs off with sighs of relief.
Moving has been ok, but UHaul is very busy.
It’s a sellers’ market, some places. But, there’s a lot of competition and some buyers do not want to enter homes that are not totally deep cleaned.

Liberals are leaving, too. I know of some. And it’s not the entire state that’s emptying, mostly Twin Cities and a few mid-sized, liberal towns.
White liberals are biding their time to let prime property values drop. Then they’ll get government grants to rebuild the “blighted” neighborhoods. It’s happening all over the country.
Also, China and foreign countries are waiting to get in the real estate/prime property game.
I bet most all of those wanting to flee, voted Democrat.

Hennepin County voted ~65% CLINTON AND ~29% TRUMP for the 2016 elections. Blaming Trump supporters and republicans is nonsense .
True. I live in NYC metro area. 40% of us voted Trump in 2016. True, that wasn’t enough but that’s a lot of New Yorkers that voted Trump. Don’t be writing us off! We just need a 10% swing.
