“Remember ... Ambassador, you're not talking to a diplomat, you're talking to a soldier.” When President Trump’s incoming national security adviser, Michael Flynn, said those words to then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, he also spoke to American intelligence agents listening in on the call. For three years, congressional Democrats have assured us Flynn’s calls to Kislyak were so disturbing that they set off alarms in the closing days of the Obama administration.
They were right. The newly released transcripts of Flynn’s calls are deeply disturbing — not for their evidence of criminality or collusion but for the total absence of such evidence. The transcripts, declassified Friday, strongly support new investigations by both the Justice Department and by Congress, starting with next week’s Senate testimony by former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
It turns out Flynn’s calls are not just predictable but even commendable at points. When the Obama administration hit the Russians with sanctions just before leaving office, the incoming Trump administration sought to avoid a major conflict at the very start of its term. Flynn asked the Russian to focus on “common enemies” in order to seek cooperation in the Middle East. The calls covered a variety of issues, including the sanctions.

Ironically, in his calls with Kislyak, Flynn expressly sought a more frank, honest relationship with Russia. He told Kislyak “we have to stop talking past each other on — so that means that we have to understand exactly what it is that we want to try to achieve, okay?” That is a question that should now be directed at the FBI, to understand what it was trying to achieve by continuing an investigation long after it ran out of crimes to investigate.

"These calls took place shortly after the Russian government interfered in the 2016 election in an effort to help Trump win, and Flynn was engaged in trying to mute the Russian reaction to sanctions imposed by the Obama Administration over that very interference."

WHY did Flynn then plead guilty to a crime he didn’t commit? If someone wants to say “because of his son” then please explain exactly how his son was involved in this.
Remember when the USA had generals with nicknames like “Blood and Guts” and “Stonewall?” Would they have exposed their President and rolled-over and disgraced themselves if confronted by a few perfumed, smarmy FBI apparatchik like Strzok or McCabe?
Maybe because he didn’t have millions of dollars to fight them forever.

I think they all thought President Trump would pardon Flynn which would enable them to say the pardon was to cover up Russian collusion, thus switching blame.

The calls were perfect and commendable. No one disputes that.
The issue is whether Flynn LIED about the calls with respect to financial and diplomatic sanctions.
Two weeks ago Powell was saying the transcripts would show Flynn did not discuss those matters. But the transcripts DO show Flynn discussed those matters. His discussion of those matters is exactly why Flynn is being praised for those calls by Flynn supporters.
Why did Powell say such a thing, and why did Flynn lie to Pence, Spicer, the President and the FBI about the issue? Who knows?
BTW, Flynn stated under oath that he was a paid agent representing Turkey while he was on the Trump campaign. Doesn’t that bother anyone? It bothers me.
And Flynn was a partner with Trump-hating maniac McCrystal. Doesn’t that bother anyone?
And have people read Flynn’s declaration? Carefully? Does that sound like a straight-shooting, savvy, rough and tough man of character?
I just can’t get over all the protests and riots over the horrible treatment of Michael Flynn.

If I’m the Head of National Security for the entire USA, who has been in “intelligence” for 30 years, and has made enemies before in the Obama Administration, I might consider it distinct possibility.
Flynn is a LIFE LONG DEMOCRAT....hope he has changed.
His son did some work for Flynn’s company, and the democRAT bastards told Flynn they were going to bring him and bankrupt him like they did to him!
Some interesting details. I imagine Flynn was targeted by Obama and the deep-state because 1) they already hated him, 2) it could hurt or even destroy Trump, and 3) (very important) because Flynn himself had flaws or openings that could be exploited.
There was crime and collusion all right. The Obama regime, deep state apparatchiks, the Democrats in Congress and the main stream media all colluded and conspired to overthrow a legitimately elected President and anyone associated with him.
No, its a valid question. Imagine how quickly the whole Mueller nonsense could have been hindered, or even stopped, if Flynn had said to him and the FBI - F.U.! Let’s bring this to court.

It's so easy isn't it, when you're an observer after the fact. It's a little different when you're in it, and agencies like the FBI, agencies you might once have respected, suddenly are trying to destroy you.
How perverted is the "justice" system when your own council, it turns out, is in on the conspiracy to destroy you too. When every agency of government has been corrupted, how do you "fight" it? Flynn was betrayed by his own country by the corrupt agencies within it. I don't think you can even begin to imagine how soul wrenching that must feel to know the country you fought for, the country you defended, has been corrupted to its very core, and the laws which should defend you are being twisted up and perverted for political purposes to destroy you.
