Twitter applied a fact check to President Donald Trump on Tuesday because he claimed that voter fraud was more likely under the Democrats’ proposed nationwide vote-by-mail system — something even Democrats once believed.

Twitter, YouTube and Facebook are companies that are not bound by the first amendment to provide a platform of free speech. However, they are CURRENTLY protected by laws passed by congress in the same way that the telephone companies are immune to legal action if people collude to commit crimes using the service they provide. They are considered to be "carriers," rather than "publishers" of content.

However, when Twitter, YouTube and Facebook begin editing or promoting certain content, making editorial decisions, they become a content publisher, and should immediately lose their protection against legal action, and should also be forced to publicly state that they are censoring certain types of content.

They should also fall under FEC laws regarding in-kind political contributions.

I also recently heard that if they lose the protection, they will also be liable to FTC actions, for illegal business practices, based on false advertising.

That would certainly be cool...

By the way, the people that Twitter have "policing" tweets, is a true villains gallery of hard core leftists. The guy in charge of it is a hard-core conservative hater and never-Trumper.

I do have to say that I love that the first tweet by President Trump fact checked censored by Twitter, was itself fact checked, and shown that there have been a number of convictions of voter fraud based on mailed in ballots.
