(Admin Mod, I know this isn't a proper article - these are my words, not from a source article, but Allen West is beloved around these parts and the only updates on his status after his motorcycle crash are kind-of unstructured posts on his Facebook page.)
Allen West left the hospital today, got home, and posted a video thanking everyone for their prayers and well wishes.

I hate to say it, but he looks and sounds pained. Mega-prayers for his recovery.

He looks pretty chewed up. Here’s wishing Col. West a speedy and uneventful recovery!

Sucks to faceplant without a FF helmet.
After seeing a few accidents I kept with the full lid.
He is a tougher man than I, that’s for sure.

Lots of “Never Cycles” on this forum. But for all of us that do ride, this picture is indeed a reminder to wear “all the gear, all the time.” I have worn only full face helmets since 1970. Been down several times and never yet even scratched a helmet. But, so what? I’ll still be wearing a FF, like you, glasseye.

He’s going to need live in care or frequent assistance for a while, at least I would think so. Just putting a shirt on will be a rough experience.
Very true!!! There is nothing that could harm this mans appearance he is absolutely AWSOME inside and out!!!
Riding is a great feeling until it’s not.
Praise God this Patriot is alive and recovering.
To see him alive, walking, and standing tall is a miracle.

Get on and ride long enough, you’ll go down. Might be a person Turing left in front of you, a person backing out of a driveway, someone crowding you over, or a blown tire. There’s always something. It’s just a risk you take to ride. Glad he made it through. Some do, some don’t.
I’ve done the face plant thing at 50mph, never so glad to have a full helmet and jaw shield. Suspect I would have suffocated to death from a jaw fracture. God Speed and Healing for him.
I read where his helmet was cracked or busted or something. Ouch!
