Justice Department Warns Los Angeles Stay-at-Home Extension Could be Illegal

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The U.S. Department of Justice on Friday warned the mayor of Los Angeles and the county’s top health officer that an extension of the coronavirus stay-at-home order may be unlawful.

The vague letter sent to Mayor Eric Garcetti and LA County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer did not spell out any specific violations, but noted concern about statements both had made publicly that restrictions may be prolonged without a vaccine.

“Reports of your recent public statements indicate that you suggested the possibility of long-term lockdown of the residents in the city and county of Los Angeles, regardless of the legal justification for such restrictions,” Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband wrote. “We remain concerned about what may be an arbitrary and heavy-handed approach to continuing stay-at-home requirements.”

Garcetti is a real piece of work.
He says people in LA can touch wet sand but they can touch dry sand. No science whatsoever behind that Garcetti is afraid of dry sand apparently.
He just extended the lockdowns to.....wait for it...END OF AUGUST ladies and gentlemen. For no reason whatsoever. The curve has been flattened weeks ago. Hospitals are not even close to being overwhelmed.
He also says LA will never go back to normal until a cure is found.

When a campaign was launched for his recall (330000 signatures needed), he promptly declared the signature gathering process illegal and shut it down because coronavirus.

Exactly. Why would the extension be illegal...but not the original lockdown/house arrest?

If extending it is illegal, was it illegal in the first place?

F the warning, these political leaders only understand one thing, RAW POWER, so give it to them.........

Give these political leaders the Roger Stone treatment: 27 FBI Agents dressed in SWAT Gear, Helicopter, Boat and a CNN film crew raid the political leaders' houses at 6:00 AM. Then the DOJ will have some creditability..........

“As I heard one local politician say ‘we don’t care about the constitution’.”

And with that I’m disappointed that we don’t hear about all the ‘accidents’ local politicians are having in certain states.

La Jolla seemed
about half as busy.

I found a Great
Parking spot at
La Jolla Cove about
Noon today for a smoke.
Finding a spot was
Very unusual.

This is ridiculous as nobody is doing anything but giving the loss of liberty lip service. Our rights are gone and it’s obvious.
