Bible in a Year:
For God . . . made his light shine in our hearts.
They call them Keepers of the Light.
At the lighthouse on the cape of Hatteras Island just off the North Carolina coast of the United States, theres a memorial to those whove tended the light stations there since 1803. Shortly after the existing structure was moved inland because of shoreline erosion, the names of the keepers were etched on the old foundation stones and arranged into an amphitheater shape facing the new site. That wayas a placard explainstodays visitors can follow in the historical keepers footsteps and watch over the lighthouse as well.
Jesus is the ultimate light-giver. He said, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life (John 8:12). Thats a radical thing for anyone to claim. But Jesus said it to affirm His relationship with His heavenly Father, the Creator of light and life who sent Him.
When we look to Jesus for salvation and follow His teaching, were restored in relationship with God, and He gives us new power and purpose. His transforming life and lovethe light of all mankind (1:4)shines in us and through us and out to a dark and sometimes dangerous world.
As believers in Jesus, we become keepers of the light. May others see His light shine from us and discover the life and hope He alone can give!
In what practical ways can you shine Jesus light? Where is God calling you to be obedient to Him today?
Jesus, I praise You for Your light and love. Help me to shine for You.
Hi Everybody!
(((HUGS)))
Hi!
Like the voice of free America,
I am pleading now with you:
Let's all shout the words of freedom
Throughout Europe and Asia,too.
There is no place like our nation,
It is led by God's own hand.
Let's defeat the opressor
And bring peace to every land.
Oh, the voice of free America
Is beamed throughout the world,
Tells the honest way of life
To man and woman, boy and girl.
Let's thank God for all our freedom,
He's been good to you and me.
Let's unite the willing nations
And keep the whole world free.
In Iran, they're having trouble
Over oil, as we do hear.
Between Britain and Iran,
the Russians interfere.
On the other side, Korea
Is a sea of blood today.
Send the voice of free Amrica
And get on your knees and pray.
Oh, the voice of free America
Is beamed throughout the world,
Tells the honest way of life
To man and woman, boy and girl.
Let's thank God for all our freedom,
He's been good to you and me.
Let's unite the willing nations
And keep the whole world free.
Sometimes I wonder what will happen
If we go on at this pace.
I'm sure there is just one answer:
There will be no human race.
The atom bomb an cause destruction,
We can stop this with our prayers.
Send the voice of free America
To all nations everywhere.
Oh, the voice of free America
Is beamed throughout the world,
Tells the honest way of life
To man and woman, boy and girl.
Let's thank God for all our freedom,
He's been good to you and me.
Let's unite the willing nations
And keep the whole world free.

We fought a battle in freedom's name
To keep our colors pure.
We showered the Axis with misery and shame
And gave them all the cure.
In '45, we thought we through
In a fight for things good and fair.
All we wanted was brotherhood,
But there stood the fiery bear.
Refrain
You bear, you bear, you fiery bear,
Is there no stopping your prowl?
You bear, you bear, you fiery bear,
We're not afraid of your growl.
We love our baseball and apple pie,
we love our county fairs.
We'll keep Old Glory waving high.
There's no place here for a bear.
They know not the terms of the Bible's Word
They laugh at the Golden Rule.
They've never seen the Great Speckled Bird,
They don't teach those things in their schools.
Refrain
We don't like to think of Atomic Power,
A weapon we'd rather not use.
But now, we enter the critical hour,
And Bear, you're holding the fuse.

This seems appropriate for Memorial Weekend.
Jocko Podcast 115 with Dakota Meyer - Into The Fire, and Beyond the Call of Duty
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6LbwCKJ0lo
Jocko, who’s going the talking at the beginning, is himself, a former SEAL.
The thing to keep in mind in all this is that Dakota Meyer chose to ignore a direct order during combat to go rescue his men.
He could only have two expectations.
1. Die in the effort.
2. Not die, and then be stood up before a courts martial and spend the rest of his life in prison for refusing a direct order in combat.
He did it anyway.
We all hope we have that strength in us when the time comes, but so few do.
Semper Fidelis.
Thanks for the memorial day weekend patriotic music festival.
Dudess! ;-)
Old Glory--Stuart Hamblen (1950)
Always remember:
Armed Forces’ Day is for those who are serving.
Veterans’ Day is for those who have served, living or decased.
Memorial Day is for the Fallen in peacetime or in war.
If you're a snowflake, be forewarned that this song contains a highly politically incorrect verse that will undoubtedly "trigger" you. Vernon Dalhart was the most popular singer in the 1920's, but he is all but forgotten today.
