You need to watch this video. It shows that the "Gentle Jogger" wasn't so gentle. He was parked alone in an area that the police indicated was known for drugs. He becomes belligerent with the police. After watching this video, it became obvious why this guy would decide to attack a guy with a shotgun.

Parking your car in the grass of a public park is a crime. The police had the right to ticket him/question him. Regardless, the point is that in the video he acts like a complete, combative jerk. The officer was very professional and polite. And Arbery was being combative. Sorry, but normal people don’t react to the police this way. This video answers the question as to why Maud ran at the guy with the shotgun. He was a mentally unbalanced, combative jerk.

Loitering in a public park known for illicit activity at odd hours is going to attract the attention of law enforcement. That he was driving on a suspended license raised even further suspicion that this was not your typical law abiding citizen. I’m no great fan of police in the modern era, they’ve gotten paramilitarized and often enter into any interaction with an adversarial mindset from the very outset. But, keeping an eye on potential hotspots for illegal activity and questioning the presence of suspicious individuals is in my opinion a legitimate function of law enforcement.

It does not matter if the "gentle jogger" has a history of thuggery. On the day of his death, nothing he did warranted a "citizen's arrest" or being shot to death.

These posts that reveal what a thug Arbery may have been merely underline the irony of the fact that the father and son will go to jail for the unnecesary killing of a possible thug.

Being right about the criminal scumbag in your neighborhood won’t help you in court.

Is there a law against doing an unwarranted citizens arrest or questioning a person running through neighborhood?

If not this case comes down to self defense. The video could be use in court to argue Arbery was very combative person. The video clearly shows Arbery charging the guy with the Shot gun.

If I was on the jury I could be convince if Arbery got control of the shotgun he would have kill some people after watching this video.

Arbery killed himself when he attacked a citizen legally armed at the low ready. The more I learn about Arbery, the more I’m glad he isn’t stealing my oxygen.

You make the classic YouTube lawyer mistake of thinking that the police are required to have suspicion of a “specific crime” to make contact with someone. They don’t. An officer can initiate contact with anyone l, anywhere at any time without any suspicion at all. They can’t detain you or force you to talk to them but they can go up to anyone, anywhere without any reason at all and start a voluntary encounter.

If the officer possesses reasonable suspicion that criminal activity is afoot, they can make a terry stop. Contrary to YouTube lawyer speak, that does not require suspicion of a “specific” crime.

The courts consider all of the totality of the circumstances in determining if reasonable suspicion exists, and the threshold is not difficult to reach.

A person sitting alone in a car might be entirely innocent. A person sitting alone in a car in an open air drug market who is unusually nervous, making furtive movements and who acts in an aggressive manner when initially contacted can provide officers with reasonable suspicion to initiate a terry stop.

You need to actually read Terry v Ohio. Walking up and down a street sidewalk several times, looking in a store window and talking to two other people on a street are not criminal offenses either, yet that set of facts provided the officer with the reasonable suspicion to stop and frisk.

It’s amazing at how effective the media was at setting that initial narrative.

Yes. Here you go.

Ga law: it is a violation § 16-5-41 (a) A person commits the offense of false imprisonment when, in violation of the personal liberty of another, he arrests, confines, or detains such person without legal authority.

If the victim is killed then that is a violation of § 16-5-1(c) A person also commits the offense of murder when, in the commission of a felony, he causes the death of another human being irrespective of malice.

That type of aggressive response is indicative of drug use. This is another Trayvon Martin type of media distortion. There is more to this shooting than what we are being told. And until all of the truth is revealed, people should hold off on making an opinion. The truth has no agenda.

I know it seems like everything is video recorded these days but really, how many of your average run of the mill joggers out there would have multiple police/security videos released upon death? I’m pretty certain if I get shot by vigilantes, there won’t be a flurry of my run-ins with the law, or a rap sheet.

Hmmm...brings a gun to a school and then this? It's beginning to look like we just might have a Trayvon/Gentle Giant on our hands here. You know damn well that the defense is gonna be showing this video!

Dude, you’re chasing a non-existent squirrel that the media painted a picture of. Arbery was not arrested, nor was he confined, nor was he detained. I did, however, see Arbery rapidly charge another man and attempt to wrestle a loaded shotgun from him.

The cop started out being polite and respectful and he,in return, acts like your typical hood rat.Seeing this video along with the original one...that shows basically nothing...means that I,a juror,am voting not guilty on all charges. Not because I'm *convinced* that it wasn't murder but because I recognize the *distinct* possibility that he was the same hood rat in the moments before he assumed room temperature.

You are Correct!!

However,

1. The kid was NOT required to produce ID for the COP, he did anyway, he could have said NO, NOBODY is required to Produce Identification unless the officer can articulate a reasonable suspicion that you have committed a crime or are about to commit a crime.

2. NOBODY is Required to allow the Police to Search their vehicle, as soon as the kid said NO, the cop immediately goes full gangster and Commits a FELONY AGGRAVATED ASSAULT against the Kid for simply asserting his rights.

3. They still Broke into his Vehicle and Searched it Illegally without cause, after Assaulting him and Falsely Imprisoning him against his will so they could break into his vehicle.

The COP belongs in Prison!!!

Specifically, it is consistent with marijuana use. The modern stuff has 3X as much THC and causes all kinds of mental health issues.

Where did you see them go in his car in that video? The officer opens the door of his own car at 0:17, and the officer Frisks him at 1:10, but where does he search the suspect’s car?
