re: Dr. Barbara Ferrer
Well, they can call her “Doctor” because she has a Ph.D. There’s an L.A. Times story (behind a paywall but the cached version is still there) that makes it clear she is not a medical doctor.

She stands there every day for an hour and gives her updated commands controlling the everyday life of 10 million L.A. County residents. The Board of Supervisors meekly obeys her every word. There’s an Orwellian tinge to these daily briefings. Very little expression in her voice or manner as she calmly recites her daily orders from the podium, with the ever-present sign language interpreter gesturing next to her. Her appearance is unsettling to me, but that’s just a personal observation. Very thin woman with a huge head of gray hair. I had to look up her background because it’s all so very creepy. Big Sister has replaced Big Brother.

It is generally a more GOP leaning district. North of the city, more industrial and blue collar. L.A. County but not part of L.A. City. The district includes the Ronald Reagan museum, and many of the LA City police and Sheriff Deputies live up in that part of the county because the housing is more affordable and it is cleaner and nicer, lots of public open spaces, and the streets are wider than Los Angeles city. That the Dems won the seat in the first place was more of the aberration.

I honestly think Trump could be competitive here.

What a missed opportunity...

Excellent idea! you’d think we had lost that election, based on the concern trolls.

What’s most terrifying is not the behavior of the blue state Stalinists. We should be smart enough to expect that behavior whenever they perceive an opening.

The scary monster in all of this is how quickly and easily much, if not most of America rolled over and surrendered.

It took a deceitful *expert* and some chest heaving, hyperventilating Fake Newsers an eye blink to seize control of a huge chunk of the population.

I couldn’t help but play Kruschev’s line over and over in my mind: *Without firing a shot.*

History is no longer taught in public indoctrination centers. Most of the population is too young to remember Nazism, or Stalinism, or an Iron Curtain. They didn’t grow up with Radio Free Europe commercials on TV.

*Iron Curtain* is actually the name of a band. Their songs have awful sounding names. I don’t want to know.

There’s also an old movie called *Iron Curtain* with Dana Andrews and, I think, Gene Tierney. I often find these movies instructive in unique ways. I strongly recommend this one. What struck me about the Party faithful was their utter joylessness. Their lives were purely wretched. In this film, Dana Andrews was stationed in Canada and when his wife joined him, she marveled at the demeanor of the Canadians. They laughed, they shopped, the dined out, they lived.

In any case, I found it very worthwhile.

It’s good that we’re *finally* seeing active rebellion, but, these pockets are really tiny, and I fear, short lived.

We now know that the *Deaths of Despair* numbers will far outstrip the number of WuFlu deaths. The dems insistence on forcing the lockdowns, which are ineffective, really should be viewed as an act of war.
