Do we need debates? The choice between Trump and Biden is simple and stark.
Washington Post ^ | may 11, 2020 | hugh hewitt

Even if the aging influence of the Commission on Presidential Debates somehow holds up, voting in many states will be underway before President Trump faces off against former vice president Joe Biden

But Trump would be crazy to accept the commission’s schedule or its role in setting formats and moderators.

(SNIP)

It would be odd for Trump to agree to debate Biden under the authority of a commission deeply biased toward Beltway group think, no matter how confident he is that the former vice president lacks the energy to go two hours against him. But why walk into three ambushes?

(SNIP)

The good news is that debates may not be needed at all. Trump-Biden is a simple choice, already stark in five profound dimensions.

The (former?) NeverTrumper Cuck Hugh Hewitt tries to make the case that Trump debating Biden is too risky? Biden's dementia would be on display for all to see. Who cares who's asking the questions? Trump handled these debates well in 2016.

Now Hewitt is advocating no debates because Commission bias?

Hewitt is trying to let Biden off the hook.

Hewitt, I see through your traitorous ploy.

No debates.

The Democrat Media needs to be disenfranchised.

so we are going to have an election where one participant has been nearly unseen and mostly unheard.

this is to protect him because he is senile

but NOW WAY 50 percent are going to vote for someone that hasn’t stumped at all

45 will because they hate Trump

45 doesn’t win the election

cheating with mail in might

not sure how to correct that

I agree. Debates are a bad idea. They are so skewed to the Rats with so called independent moderators.

Yes, we do need debates.

I have a few ideas, I'll send them to Mister Hewitt (and a few other places.)

In 1964 there were no debates because Johnson didn't want to give Goldwater legitimacy by appearing on the same stage with him. In 1972 Nixon used the same reasoning to avoid debates with McGovern.

In 1968 neither party wanted debates because that would have given George Wallace legitimacy outside the Deep South.

Trump doesn't need to debate anybody.

Really, imo ... there can't BE a debate because of the stark differences between a successful, squeaky clean, sitting President and the un-endorsed discard from a more than failed administration ... a traitorous one.

If Trump had the balls to tell the beotch on national TV; "Because you'd be in jail" ... imagine what he'll to to plugs hairy legs !

I say go ahead with the debates. But drop the very biased Commission on Presidential Debates.

Instead let the Democrat candidate pick two moderators. And let the Republican candidate do the same. As for the length of each debate, etc. let the four moderators decide that. They should be able to come to an arrangement.

No, I would like to see 3 debates:

Debate with “neutral” moderator

Debate with Biden’s choice of Moderator

Debate with Trump’s choice of Moderator

I agree with you. Biden being on display for everyone to see will sink Biden.

The rats want to hide Biden from Trump.

I hate to have to agree that Hewitt is apparently trying to protect Biden. Biden might have made a reasonably capable candidate years ago. But he’s incompetent now. The voters of America should be permitted to see this “new Biden” as he is today. Since he’s running And asking for their votes today Bring it on!

Even the WP knows Biden is a disaster.

Yes we need debates but our media is too corrupt for fair moderators. We should have a computer read a question, give time to answer, then one debate statement, and rebuttal, then move on.

No doubt the Rats do. Hewitt is supposedly on our side.

Just imagine debates with Rush Limbaugh or Mark Levin asking questions. I wonder if the Democrats would ever agree to any moderators who are not part.of the media “in crowd” in the New York / Washington axis.

Hewitt and Michael Medved became horrible neocon libs during the W Bush Administration. Glenn Beck also became a lunatic around that time.

Exactly, in fact I would agree to ditch the neutral (never trump) moderator.
