Take the Shutdown Skeptics Seriously: This is not a straightforward battle between a pro-human and a pro-economy camp.
The Atlantic ^ | May 10, 2020 | Conor Friedersdorf

...At Arc Digital, Esther O’Reilly asks, “Why should we assume that a crashing economy would leave the healthcare system standing?” Fleshing out the matter, she writes, “You can’t keep the hospital lights on without keeping on the lights of the economic sectors undergirding it. Yes, our doctors and nurses are running out of masks and gloves, which is a serious problem. It would also be a serious problem if we lost the means and the manpower to make more, or if the hospitals ran out of cash on hand to buy more beds, ventilators, etc. And there’s the rub. We are being told we can’t fight the virus without pausing the economy, yet we can’t fight the virus without the economy.”...

While possible, the freezer bag, grocery bag virus thing isn't gonna happen. I have more chance of getting hit by a train our jogging tonight.

Maybe in your case, but not for me. Catching the virus from a freezer package is far more likely.

Jogging at night is nowhere near my radar. Mostly the jogging part, which would not happen unless I was fleeing for my very life.

And to boot, I wash my packages when I get home anyways, so any meat I put in the freezer has already been decontaminated.

The welcome centers at the state line in VT are closed and they also put porta-potties up.

Brilliant move. Too dangerous to leave the welcome center up so people can use their facilities but a porta-potty is fine.

You’re quite correct. Idiots all.

Well put. The fact that there are fearpers on this forum is profoundly depressing.

This is not a straightforward battle between a pro-human and a pro-economy camp.

No, both are wrong. Like school prayer and flag burning they are distractions from the underlying issue.

DC is insane with the majority of people outside wearing masks, even when jogging or biking.

Searching, not search.

Ah, I’m on my second glass of wine. I drink it for the Quercetin. Really, it’s true.

It’s related to quinine. I’m not a fan of either gin or tonic water.

Yes we must all wear those useless masks to make sure we don’t catch a “highly-infectious” disease that has been going around for months

... yet so far none of us has managed to catch ... hmmm ...

Yes, totally in agreement.

The author makes some very good points. The Fearpers ... none at all.

Today for the first time I can say I know someone who has the coronavirus.

She is a relation through marriage and is an ER nurse who is now on a 14-day paid quarantine, as is her husband, a store manager. (He is on quarantine because of she).

She had a headache, a bit of a cough and a fever of no more than 100 for two days (but said it was not as bad as when hayfever is really bad) and is now feeling fine and ordering stuff— wall paint, patio bricks, etc. — for home improvement projects to do while she an her husband are on paid quarantine that does not count against their regular sick time.

She is sleeping downstairs. Why, I don’t know. I mean the two of them were sleeping in the same bed until the test came back positive. Like he didn’t get it from her already.

Pro-economy IS pro-human.

Poverty breeds death, disease, and tyranny

"... I think the mandate to label (any death) a Covid death is more accurate. And it helps the Covid death count get higher than it is. And the higher it is, the more scared I am.

And the more scared I am, the more obedient I am."

Bloviating against something you claim not to fear is not a sign of courage nor wisdom.

Yes, open the economy -- but, continue to take reasonable precautions. E.g., if you won't even make an attempt at social distancing, you are not helping anyone.

Here's the deal: I won't get into "your" six foot space.

And if you get into "my" six foot space, I won't see something/say something/do something.

.... I am getting a kick out of the "Experts" saying that the symptoms are not cut and dried and there seems to be a new strain that is different than normal sufferers or the symptoms mimic other diseases .......

...... Here's a thought ..... What if the people with symptoms that are different from the majority of COVID-19 patients are actually suffering from some other illness and the reason that they test positive for the COVID-19 virus is because they are actually Asymptomatically positive for COVID-19 .....

Who are you ‘rebelling’ against. You sound like a 12 yr. old brat. Reopening won’t work, without a lot of unnecessary suffering and deaths, if people won’t accept the personal responsibility to take simple and reasonable precautions. You’re your own worst enemy.
