When it’s 30 to 40 outside, it’s a bit chilly to open the windows for more than a few minutes. In my location, we’ve had only 3 days in the last month that got above 70. So it’s hard to keep the windows open for long.
One thing you can do is get a basement fan. It will suck air through the cracks in your house and freshen the interior that way.
