US: Russia could try to covertly advise candidates in 2020
ABC/AP ^ | 05 04 2020 | ERIC TUCKER

The Department of Homeland Security and FBI warned states earlier this year that Russia could look to interfere in the 2020 U.S. elections by covertly advising political candidates and campaigns, according to a law enforcement memo obtained by The Associated Press.

The Feb. 3 document details tactics U.S. officials believe Russia could use to interfere in this year's elections, including secretly advising candidates and campaigns. It says that though officials “have not previously observed Russia attempt this action against the United States,” political strategists working for a business mogul close to President Vladimir Putin have been involved in political campaigning in numerous African countries.

The memo underscores how Trump administration officials are continuing to sound alarms about the prospect of future Russian interference in American politics even as President Donald Trump has sought to downplay the Kremlin’s involvement in his 2016 win over Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Because it was prepared before the coronavirus outbreak, the memo does not reflect how the pandemic might affect the tactics Russia might use to interfere with the election.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security had no immediate comment Monday, and an FBI spokeswoman declined to comment.

The document, described as a “reference aid” and titled “Possible Russian Tactics Ahead of 2020 US Election,” does not identify particular candidates or campaigns that Russia might support through its actions. U.S. officials have said Russia supported Trump in 2016 and took steps to help his campaign and harm Clinton's candidacy. Intelligence officials briefed lawmakers in February about Russian interests in this year's election.

Did they say whom exactly do the Russian advise?

Trump? -- no chance, everyone watches Trump.

Biden? -- no chance, he is too dumb to follow any advise.

I am lost :(

Brzezinski: I’ve got two more questions. The first about the University of Delaware records. Do you agree with the reporting that those records were supposed to be opened to the public and then they were resealed for a longer period of time until after you leave “public life”? If you agree with that, if that’s what happened, why did that happen?

Biden: The fact is, there’s a lot of speeches I’ve made, positions I’ve taken, interviews that I did overseas with people—all of those things related to my job. And the idea that they would all be made public … while I was running for public office, they could really be taken out of context. The papers are position papers. They are documents that existed that, for example, when I met with Putin or when I met with whomever. And all of that could be fodder in a campaign at this time, and I don’t know of anyone who has ever done anything like that. And the National Archives is the only place that would have anything to do with personnel records.

Such utter bullshite.

Not because it’s not true, but the Russians—and Soviets before them—have always tried to influence our elections.

AND, they really wanted Hillary as president.

Russians have been “advising” the Democrat Party since the fifties, and probably earlier than that! Joe McCarthy proved the collusion between Democrats and the then Soviet Union and was destroyed for it!

A foreign country can advise, buy international advertising, etc., and we cannot do anything to stop it, as they are FOREIGN. They don’t really care about our FEC laws.

We certainly haven’t been shy about getting involved in elections (Israel, BREXIT).

As long as they aren’t messing with the integrity of the actual votes themselves, they can play all they want on Twitter and Facebook. Our bigger problem is the manipulation of same buy the management.

As if we didn't do the same to them.

That was my thought as well.

And how does this fit into the previous Russian interference narrative?

Are they now claiming Russian interference is so subtle and covert people don't even know Russia is interfering in their campaign?

Most assuredly FAKE news.

And in 2016 the only candidate the Russians were secretly advising was Hillary.

Misdirection so that we don’t look too closely at what the FBI/CIA/DHS did in the last election.
I’m far more concerned about them than I am about the Russians.

My favorite is the one that the Russians are spreading disinformation on Twitter. Has anyone looked at Twitter. Their disinformation is lost in the 100,000,000 good ‘ol American spreading disinformation on Twitter.

They plant the article now. Then after the election, they will reference the article when accusing President Trump of getting ‘covert advice’ from Russia.

So far we have not seen any “proof” that Russian hacked the DNC’s computers and linked the information to Assange or anyone else.

Since the DNC would NOT let the FBI specialists in computer forensics investigate the computers, hard drives, emails, etc., and used a leftist company “to do it” (we only have their word that they did anything), and since Hillary destroyed many of her emails, hard drives, etc., one can assume that until real proof is shown the American people, claims that the Russians hacked the DNC/Hillary remain only that, “claims”.

On the other hand, it would be like the Soviets/Russians to hack everyone looking for intelligence and blackmail “goodies”.

What is Hillary and the DNC hiding, as if we didn’t know?
