There is an outcry over a video of an NYPD officer taking down a bystander who was watching officers make an arrest for an apparent social distancing violation this weekend.
The incident was reported Saturday evening around 5:30 on 9th Street and Avenue D in the East Village.
As a couple was being arrested, video shows one of the officers break away from that arrest to walk up to a bystander with his taser drawn -- swearing and telling him to move back.
Video showed the plainclothes officer, who was not wearing a protective face mask, slapping 33-year-old Donni Wright in the face, punching him in the shoulder and dragging him to a sidewalk after leveling him in a crosswalk.

Bad language by the cop in the video.
Why would anyone expect the SS to speak in nice tones and flowery words to the lowly citizenry.
Bad language shouted at people projects their supposed authority.
Video shows a clear case of:
1) No crime is being committed by the bystander
2) bystander appears to back away when directed to do so by the officer.
3) Officer has to take several steps to even approach the by stander (2 steps = 6 feet on average)
4) Officer has enough muscle mass and anger issues to question the use of steroids. Testing should be part of the investigation.
I suspect this is going to be expensive for the city.
What kind of Nazis do they have up there?
We’ve been under stay-at-home/mask/social distancing directives in Maryland for weeks; but nobody is being stopped from going outside, shopping, walking about. We see groups gathering in parking lots to talk and socialize; and we occasionally see people without masks, but except that they aren’t allowed in the stores, nobody is harassing them.
Of course, I don’t live directly in a big city; but the cop in that video seemed to have some ‘issues’.

The video shows yet another out of control cop going full nazi on a bystander. The cop didn’t like being filmed, points his taser at the bystander, throws him to the ground, punches him, drags him, slaps him and cuffs him.
Thankfully a second bystander captured video of this goon cop.

Saw the video from the Lower East Side and was really disturbed by it. The officer involved has been placed on modified duty and an investigation has begun. The behavior I saw in that video is simply not acceptable.

You keep spamming that, but it simply isn’t true. I think the draconian tactics are about control, but modern facial recognition software does NOT need people to be six feet apart to work.

That’s why he’s been relieved of duty and the incident is being investigated.
