OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - An Oshkosh dog groomer was taken into custody Monday for violating the governor's Safer at Home orders restricting non-essential business during the coronavirus pandemic. It happened not long before the state adjusted its guidelines to allow dog groomers to open up again. Dog Depot Arrest. Screen shot from Facebook video.

On April 24, the Winnebago County Health Department contacted Oshkosh Police to inform them the Dog Depot, 1225 S. Main Street, was open even though the Winnebago County Public Health Department has deemed the business non-essential.

A sergeant with the Oshkosh Police Department went to the business and spoke with the owner. The sergeant informed the owner that she had to close immediately.

"The owner was WARNED several times and explained why she needed to close. The owner said that she disagrees with the Winnebago County Health Department and that she would not comply with the Governor’s Orders and that she would not close her store," reads a statement from Oshkosh Police.

Police say they consulted with the District Attorney's Office and they agreed it was a violation of Gov. Tony Evers' Safer at Home order.

Another soon to be taxpayer funded millionaire.

The governor can’t decide what’s essential and what isn’t. And the governor can’t decide a business must close.

I would want a lawyer. They cannot just tell a business to shut down. Why? What law is being broken? Cannot be a real law. Sounds like democrat directive.

What LAW was broken?

What penalties can be just arbitrarily enforced?

Lawyers are going to have a field day.

I give the cop credit for not shooting any dogs that may have been in the shop.

For anyone whose dog has ever rolled in something nasty, a dog groomer is essential!

Gonna be a LOT of class action suits against these idiots once a few lawyers round up all of the businesses forced to stay closed while others were “allowed” to make money and not go bankrupt.

QUESTIONS:

What is essential and not essential?

Why are some essential businesses allowed to be open, but not others?

Are the states going to pass legislation making themselves exempt from lawsuits and tyranny?

“Police say they consulted with the District Attorney’s Office and they agreed it was a violation of Gov. Tony Evers’ Safer at Home order.”

Which statute exactly is that? When did it pass the legislature and get ratified by the senate?

I’d bet a ten spot this case disappears before it ever sees the inside of a courtroom.

We are on a six week schedule with our groomer. She opened up today using the back door approach, and I’ll confide in my FRiends at FR (If any) our dog is ripe by six weeks, and ready for his essential grooming. I do love my dog once again thanks to our groomer.

Agreed. It must have been hard for the cop. That and not roughing up the person he arrested for “resisting arrest”.
